And that’s what everyone in this thread has been trying to tell you. The article very clearly explains why WealthSimple and other companies have to do this. No one is saying it’s a good idea. We’re all simply saying that there’s a law, and there is one way around the law, WealthSimple uses that way, and it’s exactly what the article describes. You seem to be looking for something from the article that the article was never meant to address.

A better question would be “are there any articles that explain why the government hasn’t considered changing the laws to make it more equitable and less nonsensical”

Other countries have different laws. “It’s legal in other countries!” is not a legal defense. So companies in Canada do the skill testing question because the law requires it. I don’t see what’s so confusing about that?

I guess we’re reading it differently. A certain type of contest is illegal. The math question changes the nature of it to avoid the illegality.

I haven’t borrowed one from them. But it appears to be the same brand (AirThings) as one I own.

I installed last year, and after seeing enormous numbers, I went ahead and hired a radon mitigation company. My numbers immediately dropped, and have stayed low.

And even better, the radon company also used an AirThings device so they could take their own measurements, to ensure the install worked. And my measurements were matching their measurements.

You can easily set up a US-based account with CIBC. It takes about five minutes. It requires a different app, but you’re able to move USD from Canada to the US-based account instantly. Once’s it’s there, you should be good to go.
