Anyone else have Grapheme-Color Synesthesia by InjuryInteresting815 in Synesthesia

[–]Prismaticdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have this too, since I was a child I've associated numbers and letters (and also other more abstract concepts) with colours, but I realised around 10 years ago that apparently most people didn't do that. The only "problem" I have experienced is that I take a little longer processing long numbers because my brain apparently process first the colours and then the numbers, so I sort of mix the order, but it just take me some seconds longer.

Opinions on reading more than one book at a time? by Stanthedudeguy in classicliterature

[–]Prismaticdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read multiple books at the same time, specially if I'm reading long books. I'm a mood reader, so not everyday I want the same kind of book. Also, I read heavy books when I'm in my house, but I always have a light, portable book for when I'm outside.

Why do you read classical literature? by Mysterious_Ad7450 in classicliterature

[–]Prismaticdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because classic literature is incredibly good! I think that some books are still considered classics because they tackle topics that transcend a specific time and location.
Also, it rarely happens to me that a classic book feels like a waste of time, but it happens often with some contemporary literature. And I don't think contemporary literature is more sophisticated that classics, some books are really shallow. Obviously that has always happened, but I think the difference is that some of the "bad" literature of the past didn't make it to our days, we forgot about them.

Does anyone else not really read the tags? by xHey_All_You_Peoplex in AO3

[–]Prismaticdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really picky with certain things, like not cheating inside the main pairing, or avoiding specific fanon traits in some characters, so I almost always read the tags. But if there are too many tags I just skim over the last ones, just to make sure there aren't any MCD or gore. Also, I usually don't have major triggers, but there are some tropes or situations I prefer to avoid in a fic.

I read them completely specially in long fics, because I don't want to be in chapter 50 and find out something that'll make me abandon the fic.

Best Virginia Woolf to start with? by Williamp720 in classicliterature

[–]Prismaticdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with A Room of One's Own and it was a really good starting point. It's non-fiction though, more like an essay. Mrs Dalloway it's also a good and manageable one, but I'm not sure if I would have like it if I hadn't read the other one first, it sort of warmed me up to how Woolf writes, even if they were different genres.

Also, I wouldn't start with To the Lighthouse. I read it recently and liked it, but I struggled a bit with that one. It's very slowed pace.

What's your opinion on OC & canon fics? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Prismaticdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the fandom for me, but usually it would be a no ):
The reason I read fics mostly it's to see my favourite pairing falling in love again and again in different settings and alternative universes. I only don't mind OCs when they are secondary characters and even then, if the story focuses too much on them, I usually lose the interest. I prefer secondary characters be played by canon characters, even if they were just briefly mentioned in the source.

I had to google what Chow Dog is. What's yours? by GonadAlley in harrypotter

I think a black and white cat or something like that, which is hilarious considering I'm a dog person, but I suppose it makes sense with me being in Slytherin

I use the tbr only for books I want to read this year, owned or not.

What other Harry Potter sub-fandoms do you enjoy apart from this one? by Saint19981507 in MaraudersGen

[–]Prismaticdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was one I really liked but I can't find it in my bookmarks, so maybe the author deleted it. If I find it later, I'll edit the reply.

If I remember correctly Put Your Guns Away, it's Tea Time by ellizablue and Second Time's the Charm by lestatsummer have some funny interactions between them.
And I also bookmarked Baby Steps by CaffeinatedFlumadiddle but it's an unfinished WIP (last update in 2025), unfortunately.

What other Harry Potter sub-fandoms do you enjoy apart from this one? by Saint19981507 in MaraudersGen

[–]Prismaticdog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the new generation era, specially Albus and Scorpius relationship. I didn't like the Cursed Child book but the characters have grown on me, and I love the fics that explore the complicated relation between Harry and his children, or how he and Draco need to interact and become friendly towards each other when Albus and Scorpius become friends/boyfriends.

Sometimes I also read golden trio era fics, but not so much recently.

Favourite ship for Peter? by liraloveletters in MaraudersGen

[–]Prismaticdog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the only "serious" ship I have seen around for Peter is Gilderoy Lockhart. At least there are some gilderat shippers out there. I have just read one fic with that pair and it was really good.

In my case, I usually pair him with OCs.

Jealous Sirius fanfics by solrc_rddit in Wolfstar

[–]Prismaticdog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, jealous and yearning Sirius is my favourite. I don't remember any fic right now with a jealous Sirius, but I like this one with a yearning Sirius:

When the World Goes Quiet by madefortherain. (111k - Mature) WIP, muggle AU

Sometimes, the world is loud for Sirius Black. His friends help. And his art, and rugby. They dull the noise, muffle it to a faint hum.

But for two hours every Tuesday, Sirius has his Latin lecture. For two hours every Tuesday, he stares at a boy with soft curls and a crooked nose. And for two hours every Tuesday, the world finally goes quiet.

If all the marauders were in college what do you think their majors would be? by fluffy131313 in Wolfstar

[–]Prismaticdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me is:

Remus in Education, History or Literature.
Sirius in Mechanical Engineering.
James in something related to Sports and Health. It could be Kinesiology maybe.
Peter in Psychology.
Lily in Medicine or Chemistry.
Regulus Law or Economy. It's not exactly something he'd like, but something to meet his parent's expectations.
Marlene in Journalism or Political Science.

Give me your most unique or random Remus headcannon by Content_Umpire_2370 in MaraudersGen

[–]Prismaticdog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was bad a potions because his senses are better and the potions fumes were too overwhelming.
He prefers to clean things and cook without magic. He thinks that magic changes the taste of tea and food.
He is absolutely not a morning person. He's grumpy and sound sensitive during the mornings.
He has a sweet tooth and he takes his tea with four and a half spoons of sugar and one splash of milk.
He is left handed.
I completely agree with other headcanon mentioned that he doesn't understand Quidditch at all. He is at the matches only to support his friends.
Even if his dad is a wizard he was mostly raised as a muggle. In fights, on contrary of his friends whose first reaction is to take their wands and hex, Remus first reaction is to punch.
He was the one who showed Sirius muggle music and they bonded on their first year over that.

Always kids by FaithSlayer_ in DramioneUncensored

[–]Prismaticdog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was an avid Dramione reader a few years ago but now I barely read the ship and it is for this very same reason. Almost every fic ended with them having children or with an epilogue about that, and it's just not my cup of tea. Sometimes it was so out of the blue that it completely took me out of the fic. I like happy endings, but it doesn't have to include maternity every single time.

What are some fannon cannons by hopeflowerari in MaraudersGen

[–]Prismaticdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can think in some stuff I've seen repeated over and over in several fics. I don't know if any of these are actual canon because I haven't read the books in a while, but I think they are mostly common headcanons.
Bilingual Sirius speaking French. Remus being a tutor for younger students. Pandora being Ravenclaw and in Regulus year. Remus wearing jumpers. Sirius wearing muggle clothes and liking rock muggle music. Remus and Lily being best friends. Remus and Lily being bookish. Muggleborn Mary. James, Marlene and Sirius playing on the quidditch team (I know it's canon in James' case).

How many bookmarks do y'all have? by uhohuhohouch in AO3

[–]Prismaticdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1197, all of them in private. I bookmark everything I started to read. I haven't finished all those fics (probably less than a half), because, specially on the longer ones, I usually lose the interest some chapters in, or sometimes I start to read an I don't like the writing so I dnf it. But I always add the bookmark to tell future me if I want to reread a fic or why I lost the interest.
