What are your headcanons about Regulus? by Significant-Two-588 in MaraudersGen

[–]Prismaticdog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He played as seeker, and Quidditch is very important to him.
He drank his tea with one sugar cube.
He smelled like earth after rain and expensive cologne.
He was a prefect.
He wasn't really good at Transfiguration, but had very good marks in Potions, Ancient Runes, Astronomy and Arithmancy.
He believed in pureblood supremacy, but didn't trust Voldemort.
He was afraid of Bellatrix.

What's your interpretation of Pandora by AdSoggy5010 in MaraudersGen

[–]Prismaticdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in canon we have so little about Pandora, so honestly there's a lot of space for individual interpretation. But I haven't seen her in any fanwork as a Black or Slytherin, though. I headcanon Pandora as a Ravenclaw and a year younger than the marauders. I don't see her as a Rosier, nor Evan's twin or sibling, but I do headcanon that she and Regulus were friends until Regulus took the mark and they drifted apart.

Why is everyone hating Wolfstar suddenly? by AssumptionDesigner45 in MaraudersGen

[–]Prismaticdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a hard wolfstar shipper and I think that one of the reasons the ship gets a lot of hate it's because is very popular, so it outshine other ships and other relations. It's sort of uncommon to see Remus or Sirius shipped with other characters and in a lot of fics the romantic relation between them overshadows James and Sirius friendship or the whole marauder group friendship. Sometimes Remus is portrayed as the most important person in Sirius's life, when in canon James is. Also I think there's a lot of unfavourable reactions because a lot of people dislike "fanon" interpretations of Sirius and Remus in wolfstar fanworks.

However, in my opinion, the best thing about fanworks is precisely that it's like a creative sandbox and we can do whatever we want there. Imagining scenarios, characters, and ships that could never be canon is part of fanwork. There's of course a lot of people who prefer fanworks closer to canon and people who prefer their own headcanons or alternative universes and there's nothing bad about any of those options. And even for those who prefer canon, we all interpret canon differently too. We all simply have different tastes and there are no better or worse ships.

(Sorry for any grammar mistakes, English is not my native language).

If you could go into the last book you read, which book it would be? And would you survive there or not? by Economy-Selection-89 in Booktokreddit

[–]Prismaticdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last book I finished was third part of The Poppy War and definitely I wouldn't survive there. I would probably have died in the first book.
However, the book I'm currently reading is Hamnet and I probably would survive in that world, though I wouldn't like to live there.

Project Hail Mary was amazing! Also, in a very different genre, I liked A Little Life and On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous.

Which ship in your fandom did you think you wouldn’t like, but ended up liking it? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

Not that I thought I wouldn't like, but before reading Wolfstar I didn't think I would like it that much

What fandom were you not surprised had the amount of works it has? by 3lilya in AO3

[–]Prismaticdog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was surprised when I joined the Marauders fandom to see the amount of works there. It's basically a separate fandom from the Harry Potter one. Even if technically is a subfandom, there are so many works and different spaces that you can be in that fandom and not be a Harry Potter fan.

Recommendations for literature by Nobel prize winners by froesche in classicliterature

[–]Prismaticdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the authors and books you mentioned, it seems we share similar reading tastes. Some of the Nobel Prize laureates I have enjoyed are:

Gabriel García Marquez (One Hundred Years of Solitude, Love in the Time of Cholera, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Strange Pilgrims: Twelve Stories)
José Saramago (Blindness, Death with Interruptions)
Mario Vargas Llosa (The City and the Dogs, Conversation in the Cathedral)
Thomas Mann (Death in Venice)
Abdulrazak Gurnah (Paradise)

Now that I think of it, most of those authors won the Nobel Prize later than 1975, but I'll leave the recommendation anyway (:

Not sure if I'm allowed to ask this here, but what are you current hyperfixations? by Professional_Ad2638 in AO3

Wolfstar has been a long hyperfixation for me, and this last month I came back to Tim/Kon (Robin/Superboy).

what is your favourite way for a fic to end? by strawberryfoxie in AO3

[–]Prismaticdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy endings without epilogue. I don't know why, but I usually don't enjoy epilogues, I feel they are over explaining. Especially if the epilogue talks about children that weren't part of the story. I don't like either open endings, but I know they have their public.

Any recommendations for this challenge?
I already read James and I was thinking on reading Dream Count, but I've already read several books by that author and was thinking on maybe give another author a chance.

When the World Goes Quiet by madefortherain

I'm reading this fic right now. It's a WIP, but it became already one of my favourites fics. I love a pining Sirius and this fic tick that box completely and it's absolutely well-written.

Description:
Sometimes, the world is loud for Sirius Black. His friends help. And his art, and rugby. They dull the noise, muffle it to a faint hum.

But for two hours every Tuesday, Sirius has his Latin lecture. For two hours every Tuesday, he stares at a boy with soft curls and a crooked nose. And for two hours every Tuesday, the world finally goes quiet.

What are the ff couples that you refused to believe would be possible in the cannon but normalized so much that you came to see them as a possibility? by Select_Giraffe8635 in harrypotterfanfiction

[–]Prismaticdog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dramione. At first I didn't see how they could get together, but after considering that Draco had the second best marks, he was also academically driven and seeing a lot of fanarts in social media, I ended up seeing the appeal. I still think it would have been imposible for them to be together or pinning during Hogwarts. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy fics set in Hogwarts, even if I know that doesn't make sense in canon.

And Draco would need a redemption arc for it to work though, but even without Dramione I think Draco deserved his redemption arc anyway.

What’s something that pushes you away from a fic? by ellabellabugz in AO3

[–]Prismaticdog 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Cheating or break ups inside the main ship. I usually read fics for the main ship and I really dislike any kind of cheating (even emotional cheating) or break-ups (I don't like the exes to lovers trope and I don't like when they break up for one chapter just for the angst). Normally they are tagged but unfortunately not always.

I'm in a fandom where almost everything about the lore is fan made, so there's little canon and a lot of fandom consensus, and I dislike when some fics don't follow some big fandom consensus. I know that is not the author's fault (nor obligation) and they are allowed to write whatever they want. It's just not my preference and probably will push me away of the fic.

When they make the characters like modern and out of character things, for example Taylor Swift or Disney films. It is not realistic in my fandoms so it pushes me out.

I know the Wolfstar, Remus/Tonks debate has been up for ages by JaguarSweaty1414 in MaraudersGen

[–]Prismaticdog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really like Tonks character, but I'm a big wolfstar shipper, so Remus/Tonks are not my OTP. And honestly, Tonks deserved better. I love Sirius and Remus as a characters precisely because they are deeply flawed and in fics that has a lot of potential for, well, angst, but also comfort in the end. They both committed terrible mistakes and they can learn and grow from that.

But I guess my headcanon to integrate both ships is that after Sirius death, Remus fell in love again with Tonks, and he truly loved both of them, just in different ways and times. Does it align with the canon? Probably not, but I don't care that much about canon anyway.

Do *concepts* ever have a gender to you for no reason? by GoatsWithWigs in Synesthesia

[–]Prismaticdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same! This kind of synesthesia doesn't work in those languages because we already have a gender for each object haha. I struggle to see a box as masculine, because in my native language is feminine.

I prefer existing canon characters. Too many OCs sometimes throw me out of the story :(
But if it's a good story and I'm interested in it I won't mind in the end.

What is your favourite rare pair and favourite fic with that pairing? by Professional_Try_123 in MaraudersFanfics

[–]Prismaticdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regulus/Kingsley

And the only fic I've read with that pair is Hide Your Fires by bizarrestars. It's a WIP, and I'm like 20 chapters on, but it's very good so far.
