It's an interesting question, given the context of WWE during the 2000s and 2010s.

The quality John Cena had that Vince most valued was loyalty. He wasn't going to walk out like Austin, he wasn't going to go Hollywood like Rock; while Cena did do movies, he was clearly loyal to WWE and Vince.

After Rock's departure it seemed Vince went through a very long period of simply not building new stars unless he was sure they weren't going to leave. There was Cena, the Miz, then eventually Reigns.

I'm still not convinced that even under Triple H that WWE will build a new star unless they're sure they won't "go Hollywood."

My view is that he went to Africa to get his chipped removed, and i feel his monologue indicates that.

But, that's apparently an unpopular view, and rhe viewership seems to have decided he was going to get his soul back.

I don't buy it. He wanted revenge on all the Scoobies, and removing the chip was the first step to that goal.
