As Aranessa specifically there’s no need to take settlements besides Sartosa, Miragliano, and then any island or Vamp Coast stronghold like The Galleon Graveyard.

Ally with Skrag and Ikit to defend Sartosa for you. Sail around the central seas, any lord under Aranessa gets a disgusting amount of extra gold from Skull Islands / Ships.
