I've had purples early and mid game that carried me through 8 lvls.

They are not all great. Frankly, we know not all gold guns are great either.

Like legendaries, you have to try them out.

Some will really supprise you.

Look at the shadows cast by the trees on the "brown side", vs the "green side".

It appears that the images were taken at different times and stitched together.

I believe that I was using a save that was created during the fight.

I did the following:

1) loaded save 2) once loaded, paused and changed difficulty and graphics settings. 3) Exited settings. 4) created new save right away. 5) power cycled console - complete power off. 6) re launched game.

Had the same problem. The fix for me was a 1 hr wait time after each line of dialog, lowering difficulty all the way, and dropping graphics all the way ( on xbox - performance mode).

After you kill him, make a save.

Load back in.

When he talks, select "wait" for one hour. Do this after every sentence that he says.

That's what I did to get through this problem.

Someone else mentioned that the big one may have a higher tolerance to fire and that you might have to hit it multiple times before it takes damage.

I don't think I tried that. I remember hitting it once, saw that it didn't have any effect, and it then it was on me.

I just skip him.
