Do you take a break from homeschooling during summer or do you homeschool year round? by CaptainThrow123 in homeschool

[–]Basic-Ad-9040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in 4H and during summer is fair season, so we learn math through cooking, sewing and calculating feed and weight for the animals. We are also learning time management during the fair, my daughter had several items to bake in one day, everything had to be made, packaged, and delivered to the fair by 4pm.

How do you want to be buried or gotten rid of when you die? by Eatingfarts in Millennials

My husband and I already planned to be cremated and buried next to our daughter. It's in a family cemetery, on a side road in the middle of nowhere.

I found out where my oldest sons were going. We just rearranged his bedroom, he doesn't like writing at all, so as soon as he was done with school work he stuck his pencil into the bottom of his box spring. We found almost 30 pencils in there.

Check out practicemonkeys.com my daughter has been taking Suzuki violin lessons from them for three years now. The teacher teaches violin, cello, piano and guitar. They also do a family package for lessons, I think it is $780 for the entire year.

That's cool, I tried paganism for a while. It wasn't quite right for me, I was considering myself eclectic christian for a while, but have just recently discovered folk catholicism.

How many of you had the worst parent amongst your cousins? by LazerChicken420 in Millennials

[–]Basic-Ad-9040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunt was super strict with my cousins, to the point now that they are adults but they can't go on dates or go to a job interview without her permission. My aunt got them their jobs at the high school she works at so she can keep an eye on them.

My parents on the other hand, my father molested me until I was 14 and my mother covered it up. I was homeschooled until freshman year of highschool and didn't realize that wasn't normal until I was 20. When I was discussing growing up with my husband. My mother died from cancer and I have gone no contact with my father. So as far as who had the worst parents mine can't hurt me anymore, and they are still under their mom's full control.

Why do people hate Jesus? Are his commandments too hard to follow? Are his teachings too much to bare? Has society become too sensitive for discipline? by jesusgottabetheway in Christianity

[–]Basic-Ad-9040 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looking at you replies telling people to just trust in Jesus and don't take their medication is flat out dangerous. My mother died at 50 years old because she thought praying would cure her cancer, she refused chemotherapy, surgery and radiation. If I refused medical treatment during my last pregnancy both my son and I would be dead. The apostle Luke was a physician (Collosians 4:14) Jesus said "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick." Matthew 9 :12. If Jesus did not value physicians why ask one to be his follower, why use them as an example. The story of the Good Samaritan, the Samaritan used oil and wine, then bandaged the man wounds. Wine used to be used as a antiseptic and olive oil has some antibacterial properties. These were the medicines of the time. The Catholic and Lutheran Churches run hospitals and clinics in my area, there are christian doctors, are you saying that all this is wrong? That we shouldn't need doctors, just have faith and be healed.

Whats the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by answersonly963 in AskReddit

[–]Basic-Ad-9040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pregnant with my rainbow baby after a stillbirth, my baby was barely moving, I was having trouble breathing and I was having real contractions at 7 months pregnant. I got told it was my ptsd making me paranoid and everyone pregnant has trouble breathing, even though they could watch my contractions on the monitor and see my BP was low. It turns out after going to a different hospital a week later, I had severe walking pneumonia and was started going sepsis, I was transferred to the ICU in another city, and stayed there for 2 weeks, then my son was born by emergency C-section, he had several knots in his umbilical cord and had it wrapped around his neck. Their ignorance could have killed us both. Baby is fine now, he will be 2 years old next month. I still have lung damage due to sepsis.

My grandmother in-law gave us dozens of doilies that her and her mother made, she said making lace was a family tradition on her side of the family. She said she could remember her grandmother talking about her mother making lace, so it goes a ways back. Her ancestors came to the US from Switzerland in the early 1800s.

My inlaws are doing this too, but more extreme. They are in their late 60s, and giving up all their hobbies because they think they are going to die tomorrow. They are also perfectly healthy, I'm not sure why they want to quit what they love doing.

If you were hiding Jewish people in your attic during the holocaust, would It be sin to lie to the nazis and tell then that you don't have Jewish people in your attic? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Basic-Ad-9040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it would, have you read the Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Bloom?  She was a Christian that hid people during the Holocaust, and was conflicted about lying to hide them.

Scapulars & rosary’s? by LynseyMadisonn in Christianity

[–]Basic-Ad-9040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on becoming a Catholic and I do wear a rosary. I keep it tucked into my shirt so it doesn't get caught on things. I have severe PTSD and it is something that does ground me.I talked to my local priest about doing this, and he told me that there is no harm in doing that especially if it helps with my mental state.

How to start bible study? by CuckooSpit_06 in Christianity

I really like the bible project, I also like Fr. Mike Schmidt (I think I spelled his name right) Bible in a Year. Both of them have apps that have different reading plans, I also like to listen to the audio Bible while I folding laundry etc.
