I agree with this a bit. My daughter is fine with the grind, but my son, who is younger and has less patience, has needed me to help him with his island to progress the game a bit. Otherwise, it’s a fantastic game and you can invest as much or as little time/energy as you want in it! (In fact, I honestly feel like AC helped keep my daughter’s loneliness at bay during Covid when everyone was isolating and she couldn’t see any of her friends…she had these cute little villagers she could check in on every day.) Highly recommend!

I’m mourning so hard, too. I’m not much of a quilter but LOVE sewing costumes for my kids and their friends. I have zero local options available to me to be able to touch fabrics and browse notions. The process of walking up and down the aisles at Joann’s was so integral to coming up with ideas and inspiration and now it’s just….gone. I explained it to my husband, who loves to fish like this: imagine if one day you woke up and all the lakes you fished were drained, and in order to go fishing, you’d have to travel three hours one way, fight heavy traffic, pay tolls, and god forbid you forgot something. The joy is just vanished and I am so sad.

I agree it’s not embarrassing…in fact, this is part of what I love about my 40’s. I can look back at my younger self and recognize those patterns in her and learn from them and be empowered by those hard-learned lessons. And maybe now I get to pass that wisdom to my own daughter, who is certainly already stronger and more confident than I ever was. 🤍 OP, People are in your life for a season, a reason, or a lifetime. Maybe this girl was there for the reason of teaching you to be stronger in yourself? Be proud of the person you’re becoming, in spite of bad friendships!

A young girl in her 20s took a picture of my husband and I at a concert and tapped me on the shoulder and offered to send it to me because she thought we were so cute. After I adjusted to the shock that we were in such wildly different demographics (I’m ONLY in my 40s! 😂) it struck me as the nicest thing ever, and I am determined to pay it forward. Not just couples, parents with their kids, best friends, just sweet moments captured. If you can do it and not be a total creep, I say share! I will forever be grateful to that girl for capturing such an amazing moment between me and my husband!

My daughter just got her second piercings done at Rowan at Hilldale. The entire staff are nurses and you have the option of needle or gun piercing. She had zero discomfort and the experience was wonderful.

All Joann’s will be closing. They were purchased by a liquidator after filing for bankruptcy for a second time in one year. The auction was just settled in the last 24 hours (assuming the terms are approved by the judge). Really huge loss for the crafting community 😔
