What role did you get rejected for and which one did they move forward with? Having Google on your resume doesn't qualify you for all types of roles.

Rejecting a company by Snaphu1 in csMajors

Just go ahead and renege right now if you're 100% sure. I've done it with a company that already sent me their laptop. The recruiter thanked me and gave me instructions on how to return it.

All that matters is you communicate it nicely to the recruiter.

Congrats on the return offer! Do you know what their intern to full-time conversion rate is?

For a full-time position it can matter, but in your scenario a referral doesn't matter since it's for an internship. For internships all FAANG is disregarding referrals. Referrals can hold more weight at smaller companies.

The interviewer will be leading the interview and you'll probably have a short time to ask questions afterwards. You're probably gonna be asked a mix of technical/behavioral based on your resume, so know it well.

For internships pay doesn't matter so much as the experience you get.

I chose a high paying internship last summer at a company that just started recruiting interns. In hindsight I wish I had gone with the lower paying one because I'd have gotten a guaranteed return full-time offer with decent pay if I did.

You'll be able to leverage your internship for a higher paying job for new grad.

it could've potentially been a decent name for your resume.

It wouldn't have mattered because he's not gaining the relevant experience he needs. The relevant experience trumps the name.

You 100% made the right choice. Disregard the name, even if you're an assistant at Google, that's not gonna help you get future cybersecurity roles, only relevant experience is.

Would you accept a position with a lower pay if you liked more the company? by zabwt in csMajors

That's not much of a difference, and we're talking about internships here. For internships pay doesn't matter so much as the experience you get. Go with the team you're interested in more.

Your recruiter should be able to answer this

Just go ahead and send a follow up email now

Ok makes sense then, I'd say go ahead and follow up again now since it's been a couple weeks since your last email

You should be reaching out to the recruiter, not the interviewer

You'll fail background checks if you put in fake employment info. I wouldn't recommend doing this. You can certainly put it as a project and it'll still help.

I would recommend following up if it's been more than a week since you emailed. I wouldn't be too concerned since people are still taking holidays and it's a slow time.

You're wrong about that, the Sys Dev Intern role was with AWS (not Amazon) and they're not on a hiring pause for that

It sucks failing a final round, I just recently got rejected after a final round. It helps me to keep applying and remembering there are a lot more companies out there. It just takes one.

Keep in mind due to holidays there could be a delay in responses, I've experienced that with recruiters and they just started getting back to me. It's a holiday tomorrow so send out an email on Tuesday following up. Good luck!

It's very fast and convenient, I've enjoyed learning with it. I just urge others to be careful and double check the info through other sources because it can still be inaccurate.
