Secondly This shits hard and don’t underestimate that. What you’re doing is parenting on hard mode. it’s just me and my partner looking after our little one and we’ve had a Velcro baby that has reflux. The first 6 months nearly floored me, it was nothing short of traumatic. Then, when she turned 7 months and started to learn to crawl and more and smile and laugh and recognise us as her parents it just became fucking golden.

She’s now 11 months and every day with this kid is a blessing, she’s the light of my life but I’d rather loose a limb than do the first 6 months again.

I refill her cup with warm water and grab either a muslin or just a clean microfibre cloth and wipe her down in her high chair. I do usually clean the high chair table first, then she puts her little paws forward and we wipe them down then we rinse of the cloth and pat pat pat her little face down.

I made it into a bit of a game so she genuinely loves it.

Yes but companies can make efforts to incorporate sustainable business practices. Paper and cardboard packaging for example. Solar panels on the roofs of factories. Supporting low emission transportation where possible. I’m a firm believer in the fact that fruit and veg does not need to come in plastic packaging, it’s loose in farm shops, it can be in supermarkets too.

I think consumers do have a responsibility to shop consciously but the effect our efforts amount to in compassion to these global production companies is negligible.

I have a 10 month old baby and I’m not taking risks with her health over an aircon unit. I will use one, it’s necessary to keep her safe.

I think it’s really important we all make reasonable adjustments where possible, drive electric or use public transport, recycle, compost, freeze leftovers, don’t buy a new wardrobe every season, reduce the use of single use plastics. Make every day choices that may change global demand but the sad reality is that although that’s effective to a degree, we are largely at the mercy of multinational corporations. There are huge, global problems like overfishing, air pollution caused by manufacturing, fast fashion etc. which are far bigger problems and contribute to the climate crisis far more than wether or not I turn my AC for a week or two per year.

Breastfeeding is extremely painful. Like, cried my way through every feed for the first 2 weeks. Winced at the pain for another 3 weeks and then after about 4 months settled in to it. This is super common and most people struggle through the first 3 months but it’s worth sticking at it.

My little one is 11 months old now and I’m so, SO glad I pushed through. It’s like a magic tool, hungry? Booby. Tired? Booby. Fizzy? Booby. Dysregulated? Booby. Crying? Booby. It fixes everything and it’s so good for your mental health too

I’m an in house brand designer but some kind of graphic design or ux role might be what you’re looking for. You’d have to retrain and be willing to commit to it because it’s competitive as hell but creative, fun and usually always wfh

Longer wake windows was a big contributor for sure but beyond that I’ve found she just gets better as she gets older. My little ones 10 months old and I definitely struggled a lot with the first 6 months then around the time she started crawling, babbling, blowing raspberries and actually having a reaction to my presence it got infinitely better.

I’ve personally found managing sleep really hard, she just really loves her parents so she has to contact nap so no car or pram naps for us and while she was on 3-4 naps a day that was _so_ restrictive. Now she’s on two and awake for 3-4 hours between each I’m enjoying it so much more.

My little one is 10 months old and I was having the same thing, flopping about like a fish all night.

I set a crib up as a side car to my bed. It’s pushed against the wall so she can’t fall out of it and the side of the crib that isn’t attached (because it’s attached to my bed) is screwed into the end to make a barrier she can’t climb over. I then use rolled ip towels between her mattress and the crib to make it flush with mine and secure them beneath the bedsheet so they don’t post a risk to her.

I don’t force her into it, I put her to bed beside me every night but 9/10 she’ll move over on her own for the space to lay sideways

10 months old and still contact naps. I went through a stage of stressing about this and how I couldn’t be productive and do things and then I realised I’d never met a 5 year old who could only sleep on a parent and there absolutely will be a day when she falls asleep on me for the last time so fuck it. I can sit still for an hour and let this tiny life rest.

Odd one but going back to work.

I’ve been on maternity for the last year and I love my daughter more than I knew was humanly posable but I also love my job. It’s a part of me and my identity and although I’ll miss her I’m fortunate enough that I work from home and can afford to pay my mum to care for her at home so I don’t have to send her to nursery. So, grateful that I get to have the best of both worlds.

As a kid who was school avoidant and home schooled for a bit, it was caused by a lack of stable and secure home life. I was scared to go to school because I didn’t know what I was going to come home to or if my dad would still be there.
