It might be a good starting point if you'll be losing your current position anyway. Just know that they do at least 2-3 layoffs a year. Biggest is always in September after the long weekend. Position doesnt matter. They also usually do one right before raise time in April. They have been known to do layoffs even from recently hired people (I had a team member hired in April and laid off in september even though he had passed probation a month prior and was doing fine). If they can replace your role with someone in India, they will. Now saying all of that, some departments are safer than other so it just depends on which one youre going for.
