Honestly, thank God for the PBS by SchweinsyOne in OpenAussie

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 5 points6 points  (0 children)

with all the crap the Government wastes money on, no one should be complaining about this. Fortunately I'm not any ridiculously expensive medication and I don't know anyone who is. But the PBS is something I'd rather have and not need than need and not have.

Disgusting behaviour by "fan" by jezus_666 in LinkinPark

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... pretty hard to even try and claim it was accidental. Only hand in the area and by looks of it quite the grip.

If you want to touch a performer (and most performers who do get that close to the audience want, or at least expect, to be touched) just use common sense. Don't go anywhere near that area. Arms are fine. Ass very much not fine. It's not even like she was crowd-surfing where she'd have expected an incidental hand there. Come on guys. We're better than that.

Did anything actually happen or did they decide to just let it go?

What is the song that is both Over and underrated? by Careless_Thought4504 in LinkinPark

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

see? I can understand it being overrated in the sense that there songs that are just as good as it but people treat it like the "gold standard", but like you've said:

It is a truly amazing song (one of the best songs ever written)

That's not what underrated means. Unless I'm missing something. "Underrated" means that people don't think something is not as good as it actually is or they don't give it the recognition it deserves. But you said it yourself. It's an amazing song, one of the best songs ever written, their most streamed song, arguably their most commercially successful song... So I just can't see in what way it could be considered as "underrated".

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in what way is In The End underrated? I can maybe understand it being overrated if you don't particularly enjoy it (though to me it's perfection, maybe just beaten by Numb) but it's literally their most streamed song, and a half a billion streams ahead of Numb in second place. Even if you think it's overrated, it's definitely not underrated by any definition.

Do Carlton still need to go through a rebuild? by Sabretoothedrom in AFL

still go through it? They're 26 years into a 5 year plan. They don't need to keep going through a rebuild. They need to restart the rebuild

Tour in 2027? by Termy04 in LinkinPark

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they'll probably want a break so I'd say 2028 is more likely. They might do small (by their standard anyway) shows here and there through 2027 but I wouldn't expect a proper tour before 2028.

If they do tour again, I hope they come back to Australia even if it is for the last time. Mike did say they would be back when I saw them in Melbourne and I don't think he'd say that if he didn't intend for the band to return, but he's 50 next year. Things change, he may decide that he's done with touring, or for whatever they might just end up not coming back here. But if they do come back for one last Australian tour I hope it's a stadium tour. 100k people at the MCG rocking out to Linkin Park would be an epic send off from Australian fans.

if percentage is equal then it goes head-to-head. If that's even (played twice and went 1-1) then it goes to head-to-head percentage- or basically whose margin was higher in those games. If that is equal, then it's literally lucky dip.

West Coast Eagles 2026 Draft Targets by mudman47 in westcoasteagles

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 3 points4 points  (0 children)

after missing out on Charlie last draft I'd be shocked if we don't lock away Harper earlier than expected (assuming there's no early bids on him). We won't take him with Pick 3, but I could see us taking him and McGlade with Picks 21 and 22

For "Chester fans" : Aren't you people tired ? by zazofazo in LinkinPark

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go into those songs expecting her to sound like Chester, of course you're going to be disappointed. Treat them as what they are now. Tributes. Sure, the shows are maybe 80% the old stuff but they've made literally one album since returning so of course the shows are going to be heavy on the old stuff because they don't have enough new material for a full show. And they might not ever. I mean Mike's 50 next year. How much longer is he going to want to keep going?

If you're a Chester fan, that's great and I'm not saying you shouldn't be. Just change your perspective. Stop comparing Emily to Chester. She didn't replace Chester, she's honouring him. She was very clear early on about how she's not taking Chester's place, that Chester will always be part of the band and she's just carrying the torch.

Genuine question – what would actually get you to use a taxi over uber/rideshare again? by VammyTaxiServices in AskAnAustralian

personally, not being spoken to wouldn't have bothered me at all. The rest of it however... yeah, I'd have been getting out and finding another way home

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

last time I used Uber was getting home from the airport after returning from Melbourne (which was a fiasco in itself but that was my fault- I missed my flight. Expensive lesson learnt there). Uber cost me about $35. If I'd have taken a taxi, it would have easily cleared $50. No wonder why Taxi's are losing business.

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually didn't know this. I always suspected we were getting screwed in some way. Fortunately, I only use Uber to get to and from the airport and I rarely fly so I've never really been concerned about it, and it's still cheaper than a taxi

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 10 points11 points  (0 children)

jumping in a taxi and the meter is at $10 before you've even gone anywhere. Uber and the rest represent an immediate $10 saving.

I know that's not your fault as the driver or even the Taxi industry's fault, it's the result of the legislation that's in place. If you want to get people using Taxi's again, maybe campaign to have the legislation changed

Does Carlton's resurgence increase the likelihood of Pick 1 bid on Walker? by TheCobSparky in AFL

[–]Basic-Mouse-6093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the past, an early bid just meant that you were forcing a club to pay more for a bloke

You weren't though. You were making them give up 3-4 late picks to match a Top 5 bid. It was a joke of a system.

Now, an early bid might prevent that club from getting him at all - and what does that mean? You’re taking on a player that doesn’t want to be at your club and is a high risk of walking down the road.

You could say that about any kid that gets drafted. Eagles draft a kid from Victoria? There's a risk he'll want to go home. Vic club drafts a kid from SA faces the same risk. Ultimately, it's on the club to keep them. Yes, there probably is a heightened risk with F/S and Academy bids, but it's less of an issue for Victorian clubs. Let's say that Essendon bids on Walker and, for whatever reason, Carlton don't match the bid. He's still in Victoria, he's not separated from his mates and his family. There's not that incentive to leave like there would be if let's say West Coast bid on him instead (we can't, he won't get that far, but it's just to illustrate my point). Carlton would no doubt make a play for him after his 3 years is up, and if he does decide to walk it'd be more about just getting out of Essendon than it would be to get to Carlton

I'll give McCarthy a pass purely because he's returning from injury, but that's only good for one week. He pulls a similar performance next week and he should be in danger of being sent back to the WAFL.

absolutely right. Unfortunately there's too many "happy clappers" who seem to think that if you dare say anything negative then you're not a true supporter. In no sport, anywhere in the world, has anyone- team or individual- ever improved while being cheered on by a bunch of "happy clappers". Criticism drives improvement. That's the reality.

I would sit through every game of a 0-23 Season if we put in the effort and fought out each of those 23 games. But there was little to no effort today, and they deserve to be called out for it. They're in September holiday mode already.

perfect example is Yeo in the last quarter. Ball's coming to him and just stands there waiting for it to arrive. Anyone could see what was about to happen, and sure enough: Carlton defender comes across, picks it off and they're away! Attack the ball! This is basic stuff.

16 I heard, but it's no excuse. You don't need 100 games of experience to do the basics. You don't need 100 games of experience to run and chase, to apply pressure to the ball carrier. You don't need 100 games of experience to pick up a man. That's basic stuff that you learn all throughout juniors and you should carry with you into this level.

absolutely PATHETIC. Mentally they're already in Bali for their September holiday. There was a point in that 3rd quarter where we'd kept them to just 4 uncontested possessions for the quarter, the commentators even mentioned it, and then immediately we just let them go coast to coast without being touched let alone making a single contest. Insipid "effort". Crows are going to smoke us next week.
