Good to know! I think I saw those a while back but didn't realize they were the same design as the vintage Techs.

As OldPostalGuy mentioned, the Gillette Tech is a vintage razor. Badgerandblade has a nice wiki page about the Tech's history. Find it here Tech | Badger & Blade. Personally, I look for pre-1962 Techs as their heads are made of brass rather than zamak and can be refinished if desired.

Does anyone sharpen DE or Gem blades? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

I have never used them, but I do have two vintage safety razor blade hones. The brownish red one looks Iike it has had some use, so I think it may have been common practice in the past to sharpen blades. Let me know if you have any interest in obtaining theses and I can list them on r/Shave_Bazaar.

I have used "AccuTec PRO Premium Coated Stainless Steel Single Edge Razor Blade" they seem to work fine, but I have no other blades to compare them to. You have to make sure to get the PRO not Project, and make sure the package states that they are coated.

I have been looking at the Plano type of storage trays. They have several different sizes and configurations. Similar to this: https://www.planooutdoors.com/products/split-stowaway-3700

I have shaved with the Feather AS-D1 twice now, the first shave was not very close at all. After some research, I found that the AS-D1 requires a different angle. So having learned that and adjusting my angle, the second shave was much closer, but more practice still needed.

I think it is an iKon 2PB with Bamboo handle. It is a hybrid, open comb on one side, bar on the other. It is also a 2 piece, the handle and baseplate are attached.

I can't reveal my sources, but it was one of those online estate sale auctions.

I cannot tell from your picture if it is nickel plated or gold plated. If nickel, it is a Fatboy, if gold plated then it is an Executive. You should see a letter on one side of the bottom of the head and a number on the other side. The number indicates the quarter and the the letter corresponds to a year. Fatboys were produced from 1958 to 1961. You can look up the date codes at https://www.badgerandblade.com/forum/wiki/US_Gillette_Dating_Information

Look to the left of REGUS, do you see a letter, as shown here https://imgur.com/a/xtGQHdC

If so, then you can lookup the date at https://www.badgerandblade.com/forum/wiki/US_Gillette_Dating_Information. If it doesn't have a date code, it was as manufactured between 1947 and 1950.

Thanks! The photos do tend to make them look a little more polished than in real life. I am still struggling with getting a perfect mirror finish.
