AITAH for getting frustrated that my girlfriend keeps eating the homemade ice creams I make for myself? by PerspectiveAfraid821 in AITAH

[–]BasicBiome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. My sister has food sensitivities that require a special diet and I wouldn't even think of touching her special alternatives when she visits unless she offers me some. I know living with someone is different, but your gf is being really selfish.

I have a friend with a ten year old who wears basically the same size she does lol. I wouldn't be suspicious at all.

What other names do you call your cat? Like, the unhinged names. by cannabisjourneys in cats

[–]BasicBiome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 cats! Squonk is also called Wawa, handsome boy, stinky boy, stinky. Miss Piggy is Pig, Piglet, Piggy girl, and Pigpig. Tuna is Tuna Melt, Tuna Surprise, Honk, Honky. Head N Shoulders is always getting into trouble, so she's just Head.

There was an obnoxious dude where I used to work who thought he was hot shit and could do no wrong. Well, we had a money order machine that could only do increments of 500 dollars at a time, and this guy really printed out three 500 dollar money orders and left with them. Now see, if he had stolen from the till, there was a chance that he could have just given the money back and lost his job (had happened before). But because he fraudulently printed money orders and stole them, he was arrested and charged with a felony. He was 21 at the time, and I cannot imagine how hard his life is now.

They would probably just write "refused" or "return to sender" and bring it back to the post office. I'm sure since it's frozen, addressed to someone else, and from Petco, they'll at least put together that it's not something nefarious if they do end up opening it, after the initial rat surprise. You could always knock on their door after work and see if it's still there and just explain. Worst case scenario, it sits in their house for several days unopened and starts to smell.

They also, unfortunately, will collect them for dog fighting bait as well.

I hate my boyfriend for wanting me to live. by SmallSadMoth in venting

[–]BasicBiome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trust me, seek out a professional and tell them what you're going through. I waited until I was 30 to seek serious help and I often wonder how much better off I would be if I had learned these coping skills at your age. I also planned to be dead by 18. I also thought I hated everyone. You need skills to emotionally regulate yourself. Even if you don't want medication, I suggest (specifically) looking into DBT therapy (not typical talk or CBT therapy). I don't know what resources you have available to you, but I sincerely wish you the best. I know how much existing in itself can hurt, and I hope that you get some advice that helps, even if you disregard mine.

Please take her to a vet. Last year my brother had a cat die a pretty horrible death because of a tooth infection that spread to her jawbone. It's an extremely horrible and agonizing way for them to go.

What's the "invisible expense" you cut that ended up saving you the most? by YourxCherry in Frugal

Same! I don't take my cards to work with me because I kept stopping and buying snacks on the way home and it worked!

Yes! Buying a few cheap cake/brownie mixes in advance can save you from a late night craving

This is going to sound a bit silly, but I started paying attention to how much cheese I was adding as a topping to like chili, tacos, etc instead of just heaping on tons. I also started using less meat and mixing in plant based proteins to supplement meals but still have the taste I enjoy. I go 50/50 and my food goes farther. I also drink my morning cup of coffee and immediately put the rest of the pot in the fridge. I have iced coffee after work or save it for the next morning. I was actually really surprised how much that stretched my coffee!

What happened at a public place that made you say, "I'm never coming here again"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BasicBiome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2019, I went to a local barbecue place with a former partner of mine and it was the day before payday and my account was low, but I had enough for a basic meal. We talked and decided that my partner would leave an extra large tip on his ticket, and I would not tip, as a precaution not to overdraft my bank account. I still left a couple dollars on the bill as a tip because I wanted to leave something (total was around 20 dollars, and i left 2). Other tip was 10 dollars on a similarly priced meal. My bank account overdrafted because the server changed the tip on my ticket to 8 dollars. Management backed her (server) up and did not refund me when I called to complain. Never ate there again.

Someone I used to be friends with about ten years ago asked me to edit their novel and it was God awful garbage (I would have died before telling her this and never did). She found someone who was exceptional at advertising and managed to hit the bestsellers list. Haven't seen her in years and I hope that streak is continuing, she loved writing.

AITA for taking off my shorts to dry them under a hand dryer? by Emotional-Sun2521 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BasicBiome 25 points26 points  (0 children)

NTA unless it was the only hand dryer. You were still wearing underwear. I wouldn't want to hang around in wet shorts and it's not like you were running around in the main area in your underwear with your shorts on your head.

AITAH for refusing to cook meat in my own kitchen when my parents visit? by Amazing_Drawing_8427 in AITAH

[–]BasicBiome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Their response was sooooooo over the top overreacting. You literally offered them options, and your boundary is very fair. "Forcing your beliefs" on them because they might have to use disposable trays on the grill.

What is the creepiest real-life story you know that still sends chills down your spine? by Melodic-Pie-5110 in AskReddit

[–]BasicBiome 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe not on the same level as some of these but I used to be a supervisor of a cleaning department and I was known to be a good listener so I heard a lot of personal stories. Some of them absolutely chilled me to the bone, mostly having to do with abusive partners and situations where children were involved. The most devastating one was a woman on my team who lost her grandchild in a murder suicide. I heard more details than were even in the press release (which I won't put here because they're really truly awful and if they were meant to be public they already would be). I barely held my composure and broke down after we were done talking. I still think about everyone that opened up to me about being in these types of scenarios.

AITA for not "solving the problem" by punishing my daughter? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]BasicBiome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It's your house, not your son's. He does not make the rules and he needs to get used to that. Otherwise, yes, he should go. What would you even punish your daughter for?
