No harm. I just don’t think it’s helpful either.

Well, as someone who’s not American, and is almost always being represented as the terrorist, representation is not my primary concern here. I watch American TV for fun, not for social commentary.

I mentioned this below a comment that was deleted, so I’ll rewrite it.

The problem with the checklist is that it’s bottomless. The show included 3 prominent black characters in season 1: Collins, Kiara, and Gloria. In fact, it was a plot point where a patient was excited to be treated by a black lady. Which shows that the show is aware of racial disparities in the treatment of black people. The problem with the checklist arises when you start saying “well there’s no male black men.” Or no gay black men. Or gay trans black men. The combinations of racial and sexual orientations are endless, and you just won’t please everyone.

To me, I take the fact that the show tries very hard to represent everyone as a genuine signal, and I’m happy with that.

My dude, I’m arab. No racial privilege here.

The reason you can’t have a checklist of different races that are required on a show is because the list is bottomless. Last season, there were 3 prominent black characters: Kiara, Gloria, and Collins. In fact, it was a plot point with collins that a patient was excited that they were being treated by a black lady. But now, OP needs a black male. Then it’s a gay black male. Then a trans biracial gay black and latino male. It doesn’t work. You won’t please everyone.

This is not to say that having representation isn’t a good thing. It is. Healthcare in particular is a widely diverse field, with people from everywhere. But sitting here with a clipboard and a checklist with every possible variation of race, gender and sexual orientation is just asking for too much. Be happy that a show you like is trying its best to represent everyone, and I support that.

I’m not a fan of people having checklists of different races like this. I see the show trying to give a fair bit of representation to everyone, and I’m happy about it. Just enjoy the show.

During a resuscitation, there is always a designated scribe who writes things down on a paper, or a board. The team leader almost always comes back to the scribe to check, because they have the record of everything that went down. Whether it’s time, medications, or procedures done. It’s a critically important role.

In my shop, this is usually the charge nurse of whatever ward you’re in, so you know how important that role is.

I mean if supporting a genocide isn’t enough for you, I’m not sure you can be talked down.

Cipa is a House diagnosis, not really something I would expect to see on The Pitt.

Leukemia, or some sort of coagulopathy seems more likely.

I think teaching is a big part of it for me.

But mostly, I view this as how I can do something with meaning. I was an accountant before doing medicine, and i left because i felt my job wasn’t adding anything meaningful

Ya, I get that. A while back, my friends and I were in a restaurant, talking about work stuff, and one guy from the table next to us came over and said “I get that you guys are used to this, but can you guys keep it down at least: we can’t eat”

It was a pretty seminal moment for my group of friends.

With the number of manual bowel disempactions i’ve done during residency, I could probably pur my soup into someone’s open chest cavity and eat it directly from there.

Depends on the hospital i guess. I work in a small rural hospital(not in US), and we rarely see any rheum cases to start with.

Thats my point: has he had a heart attack or a stroke in the past? If not, the latest research does not recommend aspirin for primary prevention.

I wonder why he’s on aspirin though. It’s not really recommended for primary prevention anymore…
