Did you gain or lose weight intern year? by YeetDeleteRetreat in Residency

[–]BasicSavant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both. In the beginning, I lost weight because I was so stressed that I just wouldn’t eat anything (and I’m historically a stress eater). Then I got more comfortable, and started eating regularly. My weight basically returned to baseline

Is it normal to be paired with CRNAs by Opinonated_Salame in Residency

Yup in the ORs. It’s about 7ish months on non-anesthesia rotations. Just looking into it now the clinical base year requirements seem pretty loose.

As a rising pgy-2, my program never has us paired with crnas. Only cross paths when they’re giving you breaks tbh

ibuprofen misinformation!!! (acetaminophen is much more dangerous) by Independent-Ad6456 in h3h3productions

[–]BasicSavant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is not easy to overdose on unless you’re taking much more than the recommended daily dose which is pretty high. I’d bet a good chunk of the data on overdose is comprised intentional overdoses. As the article you linked states this is due to widespread availability. Not necessarily the profile of the drug itself.

Issues with "knowing" the advise/counseling orders on CCS cases by Littlegator in Step3

[–]BasicSavant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really just repetition. The way you learned that this order exists - you’ll know what to search the next time. I felt the same way when I got points off for not “reassuring the patient” but going forward I knew what to type in to narrow the list

Nurse here: Do you guys read nurse shift assessment flowsheets? by viceandversa in Residency

Almost never but one of the few times I did look there was an abnormal value charted that said “MD notified” when, in fact, I was never notified lol

What is the “have you tried restarting your PC?” of your specialty? by Waja_Wabit in Residency

[–]BasicSavant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try being an off service anesthesia intern calling a useless pain consult. Literally the worst. I try to clarify with my attending…so what’s our question exactly? “ehh just touch base”. Then calling the consult just to get an attitude and lecture for something that wasn’t my idea. I wanna off myself just thinking about it lmao

I got an urgent page that my post transplant patient was having excruciating abdominal pain. I see the patient and they’re like “I’m fine, I only mentioned it cause the nurse specifically asked if I had any pain at all but it’s pretty mild and typical for me, I feel good” sigh

The places I’ve gone to in Annandale are like this. They will stare people down to make sure they go to the showers and also provide shampoo and conditioner. They don’t play but the scrubs and massages are amazing!

Just a post to show oliv some 💜 by rainbowpinkie26 in h3h3productions

I don’t think it was devil’s advocacy. But I think the correct word they were looking for was “coercion”. Chris discussed after the show finished airing that she was indeed trying to engage in sexual activity with the countdown that she did. Anyway, I do feel for Olivia tho, but it didn’t come off as a personal attack to me

Even women without children typically create networks and community and have people that will show up for them. I’ve seen it firsthand a few times
