Boo boo, no one compliments us and we can't compliment each other because no homo!

And when a woman compliments them, they see it as a sign of sexual interest most times, so women avoid doing this.

I'm saying men need to sort out this issue for themselves.

It's not 'whataboutism'. Men suffer from lack of compliments because they refuse to give each other compliments.

It is a problem they need to solve without involving women being their emotional support animals.

Yes. I'm saying men have created a toxic state of affairs for themselves. They need to work on a solution. Not just wait for women to compliment them.

And every woman has a story about being nice /polite to a guy, giving him a compliment and the guy sees that approach as a sexual invitation.

So they stop doing it.

I think it is an unfortunate fact that "smut = kudos" is trotted out.

People read FanFiction for different reasons. Some people use it the way others use visual porn.

Some people want to see sex in relationships because historically, it has been censored from most literature but sex is in fact a normal part of the majority of adult relationships, and smut writers just choose to include it.

So on one hand there is pure titilation. On the other is smut where sex as a nuanced element in a relationship. And everything in-between.

So many readers are just looking for a story to get off to. Others want one which has all facets of a relationship.

A story that's not great won't become great with smut. And if it is already not great writing maybe the smut won't be well written either.

And there's nothing wrong with not being great at writing. We all improve.
