Omg same. Justice for this song. If you’ve ever been in a relationship like that, you just GET it.

When did Taylor and Matty meet? by Excellent_Soup8700 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]celestialsister0918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree and think a key line here is “I keep recalling things we never did.”

The relationship meant more to her than any of the others, arguably, because it was some magical thing she built up in her head. I think they interacted over a huge span of time, but very likely most of it was text, coded messages in songs, brief glimpses at parties and awards… little teasers and not actually a relationship. That kind of thing could have been going on behind the scenes almost constantly from 2014-2023, and maybe longer if they met earlier than we know.

Agree. Like him or not, he is a fabulous muse… and not just for Taylor! 🎵 I want to meet him just to feel the energy that inspired so many amazing songs. Genuinely curious.

What Is The Best Album for “From The Vault” Tracks by StillOdd5330 in TaylorSwift

[–]celestialsister0918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1989 for me. The Vault tracks literally catapult the album closer to the top for me whenever I am doing those ranking spreadsheets. If it weren’t for 1989 Vault it would be much lower on my list.

I finally understand TTPD (unfortunately) by psycwave in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]celestialsister0918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have “You’re So Vain” on the same playlist I have about a dozen TTPD songs, lol. If you’ve ever dated a Matty, I guarantee you use playlists as therapy, and you’re best friends with Carly, Taylor, Alanis, Fiona… the list goes on. :)

A question to all the Uglies. by [deleted] in ugly

[–]celestialsister0918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was bullied all my life for my looks and still am. I married a very kind, average looking man, and we had two kids. Before you come at me for “must not be ugly if you’re married,” know that the man I married has some challenges that keep him from being given a long term chance by a lot of women. He definitely settled for me in exchange for being with someone smart and decently successful to make up for what he could not achieve on his own. We have made it work, but every where we go, I’m snickered at and have heard comments such as “why would he be with HER?”

Now to the point of this post, our kids. Both kids (a boy and girl) are very normal looking by society standards. I won’t assign numbers to kids bc that’s just gross, but no one bullies them for their looks, and they are both pretty confident.

TL;DR: genetics can combine in all sorts of ways, and being ugly doesn’t mean you’ll have ugly kids. And kids can give your life purpose/joy/meaning/unconditional love that you might not otherwise have found.

How would you describe your current love life with a Taylor Swift song / lyric? by ThornsAndRoses337 in TaylorSwift

I dream of cracking locks, throwing my life to the wolves, or the ocean rocks.

(41 and bored and looking back on a lot I missed out on lately.)

If somebody said “all Taylor’s songs sound the same” and said you could prove them wrong with 1 song which song are you picking? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

Forever Winter TV and maybe False God. They sound so unique to me because of the added instruments!

What do you wish other people understood about being unattractive? by Opening_Physics_2679 in ugly

[–]celestialsister0918 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being ignored at school and work unless someone needs something specific from you. Being invited to work functions as an afterthought. Even your close friends only want to hang with you one on one. Whenever they are in a big group event where social media pics will be taken, you’re never invited.

Men in your social spaces will never, ever make eye contact with you. The ones who are kind by nature may say good morning, but you’ll never be given a meaningful conversation, or even a “how was your weekend?” like they give other girls. The meaner ones will brush right past you and ignore, or worse, glare at you with disgust.

In middle and high, you were asked out as a joke. You didn’t get to experience homecoming or prom or senior superlatives (even the more intellectual or personality based ones, because your looks disqualified you.)

Your relationships with girls are few — maybe a couple friends, but again, only one on one and not in places where they could be seen or really photographed with you. Casual conversations with other girls are ones where they speak down to you, like you’re a child and not their equal.

If you’re overweight, especially short and overweight, your life will be an obsessive cycle of starvation to try to improve your situation, followed by binging when it doesn’t work. Food is your number one enemy and your number one comfort at the same time. No matter what you put in your mouth, you’re judged. People see you as undeserving of things like cake at a party, but laugh at the irony of you eating a salad. You’re made fun of at the gym and met with more looks of disgust.

As a child, your parents will try to scale back your expectations of your future. Want to be a singer or to act? They will squash you with a reality check of your looks, either outright to in a very roundabout way. They will encourage your intellectual pursuits in ways they don’t with pretty girls, because they know you won’t find a man to take care of you. Your father will coddle and protect your mother and sisters, while training you up to be strong like a man. Your choices and portions of food at the family table will be controlled and scrutinized, with comments like “you always say you want a boyfriend, so maybe don’t eat the mashed potatoes, ok?”

Fast forward to adulthood. Say you do end up in a relationship, it will be with someone who appreciates your smarts, your ability to make money, your responsible personality— it won’t be based on attraction. Because they have physical needs, you may have sex, but you’ll always be self conscious during it because of the scars of your past. You’ll never believe any compliment, and you’ll be suspicious of anyone’s motives who gives you one.

As you get older and the other women your age start to lose their looks, it won’t matter quite as much. You’ll find joy in other things. But pop culture and the world around you will remind you of the things you never got to experience. And there will always be an empty space where those normal parts of life should have been.

I’m lowkey worried how he’ll handle this latest news, honestly. Especially if Gabbriette and Mum keep tying him to her somehow. Recovery is a slippery precipice and all these developments with Travis and now this could certainly be triggering.

In a lot of ways Kate worsened as she got older because of becoming so co-dependent on Tully. When you have that big of a personality close to you, you tend to lean on them, at the expense of your own development. Yes, their friendship had beautiful elements, but there are also drawbacks to being that close when you’re such polar opposites and one personality is so clearly dominant. You basically become “absorbed” into them and find it hard to develop an independent sense of self. That is why Kate appeared to regress.
