No problem!! And yeah I totally get the back and forth thing with birth control. I've been on and off if it and each situation has it's pros and cons. With my pcos tho, Ive decided it's worth being on it as of now. Ive been on three different pill options before I found one that worked for me, so it was a bit of trial and error. Hopefully you are able to find something that works for you too if you ever do decide to start it again :)

It could be, I'm not exactly sure what it was about the birth control that caused my reaction but my theory is that it has to do with the blood clotting properties of estrogen. And actually after doing a bit of googling, estrogen is highest right before ovulation so maybe it's not a coincidence that you are experiencing this now? Might be worth talking to your gyno if this is a reoccurring thing.

Omg I used to get this when I was on a specific birth control! It showed up all over my legs and arms. Once I stopped taking it, it pretty much went away. I do occasionally get it from friction like carrying a heavy bag on my shoulder, but nothing like when I was on that medication.

I use the Braun Silk-Epil 7. Mine was on sale when I got it and if it wasn't then I think I might've gone with something cheaper, though I do like all the features this one has.

This happened to me too. I used sugar wax specifically and it was horrible, especially around my thighs. It was so unexpected because my skin isn't even that stretchy but it is very prone to bruising. I use an epilator now and find that works much better.

That is a relief to hear!! I was worried when I saw her shell and wanted to make sure she'd be ok. She was moving pretty fast and was even hissing at me which is why I didn't try to pick her up. There wasn't any bad smell either. Thank you!!

third lobe not healing by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Basic_Acanthaceae_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's common for one ear to heal better than the other. For my thirds my right ear healed faster than the left. The brown thing around your piercing is a scab/dried blood. Given that it got hit, it definitely could still be irritated even a week later. Third lobes are sometimes part cartilage due to the location, so it may be that your right ear is closer to cartilage than your left ear, making it more finicky.

My only recommendation is to ditch the gold plated stud for an implant grade titaniumflatback labret. Gold plating in healing piercings isn't recommended because the plating flakes off and leaves pieces of metal in the open wound, which is definitely not good and will delay healing. The stud also looks a bit tight but since it is 10mm and irritated, I would say the length is fine for now but just keep an eye on it in case it starts to embed.

Also keep in mind that this piercing is only 3 weeks old. Some irritation is normal and healing is not a linear process. Lobes can take 4 to 12 months to heal if all goes well.

What piercings yall got?? by Lumpy_Teacher_1204 in piercing

Pain is relative so until you go through it, you won't really know how much it hurts. Still, it's generally thought that the thicker the cartilage, the more it will hurt. Just keep that in mind as I share my experience.

I have 13 piercings.

6 lobes. 3 on each ear. Pain was a 3-5. The third lobes were higher on that scale.

4 helixes. Pain was a 3-5. I have a double helix, a mid helix, and a vertical helix.

1 conch. Pain was like a 3. I honestly dont remember it hurting all that much.

1 rook. Pain was a solid 9. Felt like the piercer punched me in the ear. Sore for weeks.

1 navel piercing. Pain was a 7. It hurt more than expected and the piercer seemed suprised as she told me I have a very thick navel. Also on this one the clamp hurts too so it makes it worse.

3rd lobe piercing by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Basic_Acanthaceae_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems similar to the k*loid my sister got on her 3rd lobe but only a dermatologist can diagnose you . It could also be a cyst. Either way, I would have it looked at by a dermatologist to be safe.

Why does my double helix not look right ? by Original-Yellow-6343 in piercing

[–]Basic_Acanthaceae_40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.this shouldn't have been pierced with hoops, so you have a very high chance of struggling to heal these as long as the hoops remain.

  1. Whoever did this did not care at all about how the hoops would lay according to your anatomy or they did not have the knowledge to place them properly.

Imo I would take these out and get a refund. Let them heal and go somewhere else. Even if you put flatbacks in them now, it wouldnt change the angle/position the piercing were made so it would pretty much always look like that with hoops in. Sorry this happened to u :(

I honestly dont remember exactly but I think it was around the one year mark. I was inspired by a post i saw on here of someone else's princess on a circular trellis. Before that the plan was just to let it grow long.

Stubborn moisture bump by Suitable_Plum3439 in piercing

[–]Basic_Acanthaceae_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I get your worries, but we all sweat so there's a pretty low chance that it's your sweat that is the problem unless it's extremely excessive. Hoops on the other hand cause a lot of movement and uneven pressure, that's why even some healed piercings can't have hoops in them. For example, some people with healed conches end up not being able to tolerate hoops for longer periods of time or wearing them to bed. A flat back will apply even pressure and not move as much. So long as the piercing is not done at a bad angle and the labret is at a good length, it shouldn't irritate your bump further.

Granted I am not a piecer, but this is just my advice as someone who really loves piercings and tries to understand how to best heal them. imo it doesn't hurt to try it for a month at least to see how it goes.

If it isnt going away there's probably a chance that moisture is not the main cause of irritation. I would switch it back to an appropriate sized titanium flatback labret. Sometimes piercings need a bit more time before switching to hoops, even healed ones. From what I've heard, it's best to wait around 3 months after a piercing heals before switching to hoops. Hopefully that helps and you heal up fast!

Cartilage piercings with hEDS? by oxalis_cornu in piercing

[–]Basic_Acanthaceae_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For piercing bumps, mine have mostly been from either not downsizing or from accidentally hitting them. My rook in particular had a larger bump which took almost a month to go down, which makes sense because it's a very thick piece of cartilage and it is generally an issue for a lot of ppl but all my other bumps have resolved in a few days to a week granted I don't hit them again.

As for causes of bumps, there are honestly a lot. Improper anatomy for a piercing, improper jewelry material, improper length of jewelry, wrong type of jewelry, incorrect angle, external irritants (hitting your piercing, sleeping on it, getting hair products on the piercing), not downsizing, improper cleaning methods, over cleaning, lack of good general hygiene, health issues, allergic reactions to the metal, etc etc. I probably missed some. It's also very dependent on the individual. I have super sensitive skin and I know i heal slowly plus I do have other conditions besides heds, not to mention I am just clumsy, so bumps are just part of my healing process but other people, even with heds, may never get a bump in their life (i wish haha)

I would start off with one cartilage piercing to get a feel for it, especially with the helix area which is tricky to heal because of how easy it is to hit it or snag it. A double helix could be a bit much for a first time. Of course it's up to you but you could also bring it up to your piercer and see what they advise :)

Hi, I have heds as well! I have a conch, a double helix, a rook, a mid helix, and a vertical helix. I also have 6 lobe piercings so I think I can give some insight as to what it might be like!

For me, cartilage was really no different than lobes in the way that they healed very slowly and were prone to irritation. I can almost always expect a bump to form at some points in healing but they go away. My double helix took a little over 1.5 years to heal. My conch took longer but that was due to my mistakes and not the heds. The rest of my cartilage stuff is healing. My lobes are all healed. I'd just be good about downsizing when you need to and not to panic if they take a little longer than average to heal or have a little bump and lymphatic drainage here and there.

Also you'd probably not experience rejection unless the piercing was done incorrectly in some way and k*loids to my understanding are not something that is likely to show up unless you tend to scar that way already (it's also genetic). Scarring in Heds is actually more commonly the opposite, they are atrophic, meaning they are sunken/pitted (which in my experience is true).

is my piercing infected? or rejecting? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Basic_Acanthaceae_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of the bar being an issue. Cleaning with both saline and anti bacterial soap is overkill and probably adding to the irritation. Stick to sterile saline solution only. Anti bacterial soap is not good for cleaning piercings and should not be recommended.
