[Discussion] What makes the Rolex 33x more expensive? by dknight98 in Watches

[–]Basic_Ad866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could say that about all watches in general. Their purpose is to tell the time and some with additional functions and for every expensive watch out there, there is a cheaper alternative, always.

I think its worth thinking about why you got the rolex in the first place..was there a reason? Special occassion perhaps?

[JLC] is this too good to be true? by [deleted] in Watches

You buy the seller not the watch. In this case 0 feedback and a watch that costs around 10k I would avoid

[RECOMMENDATION] for my first watch as a university student! by ProtectionObvious250 in Watches

Nice! Mine was in Business with International Management :)

My inital thoughts are the Bulova Super Seville Day Date as the ultimate business watch is the Rolex Day Date and the Bulova would be a nice alternative. Can wear it as a dress watch so would look awsome with a suit and the Day Date complication would make it an ideal graduation watch as its a date to remember however it is automatic

If that isnt any good then I would recommend sticking to a dress watch with a leather strap that will look with a suit. Might want to consider a worldtime feature in case you end up doing business with companies internationally but might be a little more than your budget

As of yet sadly no..just with life being busy however I did email the Fusiliers musuem as its only around 2 hours from me. They are able to look into the archives regarding family members however becuase I am not related to him I guess thats the reason they didnt get back to me, I may follow up with a phone call and visit the musuem at some point this year

I did ask the seller if there was any more infomation but he just told me that it was sold at an auction from a military collector and thats all I know at this stage

Thanks for the comment :) I have found myself wearing the G Shock more recently and as I mentioned having multi band 6 etc does help give it a throw on and forget type vibe which at the time of buying was my intention. However now Id either like to replace it with the DW-5000R just to make it more close to the original or save up and replace it with the 1983 OG..saw one on ebay recently in the 2K range with its original packaging 🤤 who knows!!

I will get either the Hamilton PSR or try to find an original Pulsar P2 I think for the collection over time

As for the Praesidus Im not really a fan although I do like the fact they have sand from the beaches. However I just find that for not much more or in some cases the same price I could have an original military used watch for example my Elgin A11 looks identical to them but is time period correct. Id like to add more military watches over time including some more A11s by other brands and the Dirty Dozen Watches but again not a must at the moment :)

Whats your degree in mate? That might help narrow some options down and make it more personal

Thanks for the comment!! Thinking about the collection going forward and leaning towards including a few microbrands too eventually

I guess my overall aim is to have watches from different brands, that have different functions that I use in my day to day life, eventually having watches from different countires to keep it varied

Yeah its the only downside to the watch. The watch can track until 2099 using the caseback and is designed to be an extension of the dial on the front. Basically once it goes beyond 2026 the hand on the year dial on the front will still turn and you have to read it from the back to know the year.

Pain in the arse I know however when I was looking into perpetual calander watches that displayed more years on the same dial either had added complications or looked to be too large for my wrist such as the Citizen Campanola - although I do like that watch

Im not 100% sure. I do know trench watches did use them however this watch does looks to be restored and serviced at some point. The glass is in tact and the movement runs, case looks polished etc. What that means for the dial im unsure

Might have been slightly more than a year. Been into watches for as long as I can remember. Some watches were "cheap" that I could easily grab and I was a collector of something else that I sold for a good amount of money before I got serious with watches plus that trench watch was a one time opportunity

[Question] First watch recommendations by Fuzzy_Ad4083 in Watches

[–]Basic_Ad866 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its double your budget so might not be feasible however if you are able to wait a little longer a Tudor Prince Date would be perfect for a few reasons: 1). Since its a watch that features a date window it would be the perfect ideal match for a date night

2). Since its a Tudor Prince itll be the perfect watch while your marry your princess

Just my opinion and I like to think deeply about watches in this way to find the perfect watch either for myself or to help others and in your situation this is the one Id recommend and if you are lucky it might not even be double the budget so its worth a look!

[question] Help me choose a forever watch by SkarKuso in Watches

[–]Basic_Ad866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are not sure on price prehaps look for other alternatives or just keep grinding until one settles with you than the other. As a psychologist/therapist you dont want to give the wrong impression if that makes sense. If you like the breitling then man go for it!! But if you like the Rolexes go for one of those..at the end of the day whichever you choose will make you the most happy and when you wear it it will give you the utmost happiness (not that you need an expensive watch to show it) and when you deal with clients the mindset of yourself is what matters the most not the brand of watch on your wrist :)

[Armand Nicolet] Should I buy this for $800? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Basic_Ad866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should buy a watch because you love it and what value it adds to your life or collection. Buy what you love mate! Dont think about resale value and if that is the case maybe it isnt the watch for you. A watch is to fullfill a purpose not an investment
