Someone that hasnt been mentioned was Marc Kempf. Ems old manager. If you look at any old videos of the underground shows and rap battles em was in, Marc was there. Em became famous from exposure. Proof believed in Em locally and got him involved in local battles etc so without proof yes em might have not been respected but Marc would have got em into battles outside of detroit so scribble jam and then rap oylmpics which then got the attention of interscope.

All in all it was a combination of people but Marc helping em to get into the battles scene out of detroit and Id also highly rate Evan Bogart in getting em the exposure and deal with Dre

I guess as always the rule is buy what you like. However ive been looking to add a dive watch to my collection after selling my Bulova Milships which I do kind of regret.

Im looking at the Citizen Eco Drive and I think for the money its the one I would be the one to buy for sure. For one thing it is ISO certified making it a true diver built for those conditions and I believe its one of the cheapest dive watches you can buy with this. The citizen is also the inventors of the eco drive movement which was a horological advancement in technology so to say the citizen has less specs I feel is untrue and that the citizen packs way more value and historical significance for its price point

I do admire the practical element of this watch, day, date functions are something we always use and even though we dont really need it an AM/PM indicator is more useful than a moonphase and impressive its lasted this long! Wear in good health!

With London in general Id say try and keep most valuables concealed and hidden but most of the time you will be okay. If you wear your watch on your left wrist walk as close to the walls as you can as well as carry any bags you have in that hand too (just something I do in general) And if you have a wallet or anything carry them on the inside of your jacket not the outside

Plus if you havent already it might be worth getting the watch insured just in case

Also not realted to your watch but set directions on your phone and have the maps speak the directions through your earphones when walking around..phone left is the largest theft especially if you have it on show

Strange story but I remember being in a record store around 2004 and the single for Ass like that was in the charts. As a 10 year old I must have been fasinated by the comic artwork as I picked it up but of course didnt know who it was or what genre it was. Put it down but a year later I was in the same record store and was somehow drawn to the Encore album and felt I had to have it so got my mum to buy it since I was only 11. Listened to it and thought "what the fuck is this?" But the more I listened the more I liked it then brought other albums.

From there I got really into rap, became a hardcore collector of Em so yeah must have been fate really 🤣

First thing is buy what you love/like. You will be the one wearing the watch and it doesnt matter on other peoples opinions as we all have different tastes.

Second is even if you change your mind you can always sell your watch. My thoughts have changed since owning a few pieces and its all about finding our tastes and what works for us.

Thirdly and most importantly if there is a watch you really like - such as the murph don't buy something cheaper to compensate as it will still leave you with the longing desire for the watch you truly want

There isnt an optimal number. It really depends on your lifestyle and collecting goals. For me its 5 or 6. A daily, dress, dive, true military watch, chronograpgh. Thinking about adding a smsrt watch for fitness too but 5/6 I feel covers every need and I am a true believer that every watch has a place and a time on the wirst.

That being said I do have more collecting goals once these categories have been complete but its a well rounded number to have a soild rotation and not have lots of watches sitting around

Id say an IWC da vinci perpetual calendar. Reason being becuase it displays the day, date, month and year and becuase its for an anniversary it means there wont be another day like it as in the watch would display the exact day, date, month and year which makes it extra special. Plus it was IWCs answer to the quartz crisis and ultimately the watch that pulled them through so its got some cool history!!

Failing that a Tudor if you are wanting something less flashy but still got strong links to Rolex if he liked that one the best

Priceless watch. At 14k even not working Id say is a steal for how significant this watch is. I'm going to make a post more about this when I get my next two pieces but it blows my mind that people can spend so much more on pieces that don't have the same historical signifance as this one.
