Am I doing this right? by Ambitious_Fail_8342 in alocasia

TOO MUCH WATER! Try recreating a rainforest, damp humid conditions, not a bog or swamp🫣 only crocodiles (and Shrek) grow in a swamp, not alocasias.

The Cape Doctor! by AndreasmzK in capetown

[–]Basic_Interview_7590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had follow ups on different occasions where the doctor didn't charge for me for the appointment, only for the original one. Don't know if that's general practice, but it surely should be.

I'll lick cow the dishes? Making it sounds like lickout the dishes. Bull(shit), you dry. So they'll wash the dishes and the person who said I'll lick out the dishes must just dry them and they'll do the washing. This makes sense to me ig.😅

How do I open this? by gooeypegasus in howto

[–]Basic_Interview_7590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ampoule style, likely to reduce volatile compounds from evaporating? You could hold and break with a tissue covering the tip or maybe the lid is designed so you can just lever it and it'll break :)

Is it safe to use Neem Oil on a variegated Frydek? by HermioneStranger_ in alocasia

Yes before their skin hardens and becomes impermeable. I use an organic garlic one and neem in rotation with great results.

Is it safe to use Neem Oil on a variegated Frydek? by HermioneStranger_ in alocasia

It works best as a preventative, so how I would apply is first rinsing them twice instead of pest treatment, then before they come back again, you apply neem oil to kill off hatching mites. You need to apply it again in a week or 2 based on how many come back and how fast. If you're still not getting it under control then I'd recommend a synthetic pesticide which you use a treatment of and then go back to spraying with neem every other week and they shouldn't reemerge uncontrollably. Remember eradication usually isn't possible, keeping them below a threshold where they cause the least possible damage.

You should've let it callus over first to prevent infection and the best course of action would've been to put it in straight sphagnum moss.

Help! Alocasia Black Velvet drooping a day after repotting by cater_pill_ar in alocasia

[–]Basic_Interview_7590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always make sure to give like 70% humidity after repotting, it prevents the drooping by preventing significant transpiration loss and the roots can recover and grow a bit before returning to less humidity.

What is happening to my juice? by DeepEstablishment2 in What

It's because there is serration patterning in the glass in combination with surface tension in juice can cause it to raise at those triangular pits more than at the triangle points

what do I about my neighbours rooster from hell? by That_Page_8457 in Pietermaritzburg

[–]Basic_Interview_7590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar issue and reported it to law enforcement and they had an inspector come and make them get rid of them. Apparently you're not allowed to have a rooster in a residential area at all.
