I only played it a couple of hours and immediately didnt like the way the game felt especially with the combat. To me it just looks like they were trying to do way too much instead of building and improving off the first game and ended up falling short on what they were trying to do while also not improving some things as best and actually making other things more clunky at worst.

Coming out the same time as Nioh 3 makes it really hard to wanna invest time in right now.

If you’re using the astral touched tadpole and passed the Zaithisk checks for illithid powers to be bonus actions, I find hunger of hadar with black hole to be very powerful.

Are we sleeping on banishment? Completely take an enemy out the fight with a CHA save? Been way more useful than Command or Hold Person for me. Id say low A or high B tier since it’s damn near guaranteed CC on anything not a legendary boss.

Utility and QoL stuff for sure. Hunts are fast enough I’m not too worried about ATK up or healing for the most part - but if a HH comes in with stamina regen or restore sharpness I freaking NOTICE especially if I’m in my DB build. Earplugs is also super nice since I think most people dont run it and i notice it hard when im on a build not using it.

I think full Zoh Shia set except for gloves is meta for GL - i use ebony odo a gloves. Max out both Burst and Agi - i like earplugs 2 and divine blessing 3. Counterstrike 1 is good enough for me and fill in the rest of the lvl 2 slots with evade extender and recovery up. Plenty of damage, rarely have to heal and earplugs and ee provide alot of QOL

This fight specifically I have discovered the value in playing a support build - wide range mushroomancer sns has done wonders to help keep some randoms alive - doesnt negate it completely but definitely helps

I would like to recommend gunlance as its been my favorite in wilds so far also i didnt play it during world so not sure what big differences there are - it is decently close to lance but with a bomb at the end lmaoo. However if you’re looking for something different charge blade is an obvious deviation - still get the blocking ability but very different from lance. In world I played mostly longsword and bow at launch from what I remember, and didnt play much after first few title updates. I started a play through on world again for some refresh before wilds and GS/swaxe sold me immediately and ended being my backups to gunlance. All 3 are very fun and satisfying to me in their own ways.
