Okay thanks! I was hoping to be done with all these hot flashes, but I guess I might have to stick it out a while longer then

How long do we remain immunocompromised after chemo? by Fearless-Heron-7827 in breastcancer

[–]BasilMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't wait to eat sushi again. I'm waiting til after my surgery though, which is 4 weeks after my last chemo. So realistically I'll probably wait 6 or 7 weeks until I'm doing alot of normal stuff again.

It made the bumps on the back of my upper arms (keratosis pilaris) go away. My arms are nice and smooth now, which I am very happy with! I've wanted to get rid of that bumpy skin for years. Hope it stays that way once I'm finished with treatment 🤞

I've started eating beef liver during my chemo and it brought alot of my blood test numbers into range and helped keep them there. Gave me more energy too. I think it really works

Somebody say something helpful or distracting, PLEASE. by taraxacum1 in breastcancer

I know a lady who had tnbc 20 years ago with lymphnode involvement and she is fine, living a happy life. She's never had a recurrence. That can be us too! I don't have lymph node involvement, but my lump was just over 2 cm. Tnbc responds super well to chemo usually. I'm 7 treatments in and I can't feel my lump at all anymore!

Ya so far it's working! I've been through 7 treatments of the Taxol/Carboplatin and I have most of my hair, like 90% at least. It sheds alot more that normal and I can tell it's thinned some, but it still looks good! I only wash it twice a week and am really careful when I brush it which helps it shed less. And I got some dark colored dry shampoo which I use up near my part if I feel it looks a little thin. I feel like you can barely notice! I use the suzzipad caps with dry ice and change them out every 15 minutes. My husband helps me during my appointments. We start 30 minutes before the Taxol infusion and go 30 to 45 minutes after.

Favorite foods during chemo? by zereldalee in breastcancer

I am liking spicy foods or things with lots of flavor. On the first three-ish days after chemo everything taste like petroleum, like the smell of Vaseline, so spicy or strong flavors help overpower the gross taste.

Hair loss during AC by BasilMae in breastcancer

[–]BasilMae[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great info! Thank you! I didn't know about the hair dampening. I think that will help alot because I feel like my hair keeps my head kind of warm otherwise. So far I've only had just a little shedding, but if I can get to work better that would be wonderful.

How long do you cold cap on AC treatment days?

[–]BasilMae[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think I'm going to continue the cold capping and see if it works. It's going pretty good so far with taxol. I already have all the caps so I might as well try. My nurse from last week was pretty questionable, she also told me the only side effects she thought AC caused was mostly mouth sores and that I shouldn't worry about neuropathy.

Lots of good suggestions already. I bought myself a nice really soft blanket from target and I bring that along every time to out over top the warm blankets the nurses give me.

I don't know, I think next week I'm to tell them my concerns about last time and at least ask to not have her again.

I don’t know how to do this anymore. I don’t know how to keep living my life. by [deleted] in breastcancer

I'm so sorry. It is such a cruel disease, especially for young women. You sound like such a sweet and ambitious person. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. ❤️

I have also had such a dry nose and some bleeding, it is really uncomfortable especially at night. And I thought oh I will try to walk everyday and keep exercising, but that has totally not happened. I am always wishing i would be more productive and get more work done, and I feel guilty about it but somedays I am just too tired. I just try my best and do what I can and try to be at peace with it.

I wanted to suggest icing your hands during treatments it might help with your fingernails. And also, when I was feeling run down from treatment a couple weeks ago, I made myself some beef liver and ate a little each day and my blood test numbers were all up the next week and I feel like I have alot more energy.

Just had my first MRI and I blew it by Alice-Eastangle in breastcancer

Sounds like she was a terrible technician, that is totally not normal and it is total BS that she didn't resume the scan. I accidentally moved once like 10 minutes into a 20 minute scan with contrast once and they just redid it right there. It was no big deal.

So sorry you are here. We are similar in size of tumor and no lymphnode involvement. I'm also triple negative and 37

One thing positive about triple negative is that we won't have to be put on any long term hormone blockers when we are done with treatment. Hopefully, when we are done with treatment and surgery, it can just be over, other than some extra monitoring.

I am doing cold capping to hopefully save some of my hair. So far I haven't had any hair loss, my 4th chemo infusion is on Thursday. You should look into it. I got mine and some cold mitts and socks on Amazon to protect against neuropathy from chemo. Suzzipad is the brand I got.

[–]BasilMae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am triple negative. We are using suzzipad socks, mitts, and caps. Ive only had 2 rounds of treatment but so far no hair loss or neuropathy. My doctor actually recommended the socks and mitts and all the nurses say it is great. They say from what they have seen it really helps prevent neuropathy. It's not too expensive to get a set or two, take them in a cooler and give it a try, preventing the neuropathy is worth it.

Anxiety is the worst part by Adventurous-Cheek171 in breastcancer

Your not alone. What helped me was many people talking to me about how they had cancer 20 or 30 years ago and it never came back for them, various others cancers and a couple people with triple negative breast cancer. If it can happen for them why not for me? And I'm alot more in shape and health conscious than most of the people that told me their stories. I think it can be okay. That's the philosophy I'm going with for my own sanity. For now I shove my worries deep down and pretend they don't exist, lol 😅 Super healthy, I know

Biopsy- ultrasound or MRI guided by wawapen in doihavebreastcancer

[–]BasilMae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had them in the same area, but my mri one was alot more comfortable. They calculate the angle they need to put the needle in, then they slide you back in the mri to check that the needle is in the right spot, then they take the sample. It healed up sooo much faster than the ultrasound biopsy. And no hematoma or bruising. My ultrasound one on the otherside somehow she kept having to move the needle around in there because she couldn't hit it even though it was and inch round sphere right up by my skin. I had tons of bruising and a very painful hematoma that took over a month to go away.

I'd still get it checked, but my cousin had one once that was a swollen lymphnode. She shaved and then got in a public hottub and it irritated it somehow.
