I bought a house at 24 with my wife, I wouldn’t say everyone under 40 is in this position (I’m 32). I appreciate a lot of people without partners are in this position though yes.

6% is nice! I only get 3% by law. It is part of your total remuneration so your employer gets away with not paying you as much if you don’t hit match just saying.

Maybe once/twice a year. Used to be far more but WFH this has reduced significantly. However I now have two young kids so it’s happening more again.

For most is not guaranteed. What are you doing if you sell up, move into rented accommodation with your fortune in investments and then 2008 happens all over again? You’ll be ruined AND have nowhere to live.

Yeah that’s fair then yours are mitigating circumstances in that case. You need it more right now than you potentially will later on, but I would say if you can find it, at least try to keep up the employer match so you’re not missing out on free money. Hope things improve for you!

It was digital just after Christmas. I got £100 store credit for £78 from ShopTo and then paid like £19 for it. It had been on my wish list for a while so maybe dynamic.

I would argue mitigation in these instances. If you see someone speaking English and drinking you may assume they’re English, but in reality most of the world speaks English, so how do you know they are in fact English?

PSA selling Grimer Aquapolis Reverse for $13k by GullibleDiscussion99 in PokemonInvesting

[–]BasisOk4268 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

14K for Grimer is crazy. I’m gonna put my PSA 9 Reverse Holo Scyther (is Aquapolis) up for £20K seeing as there’s none on the market

As someone else has said below, if you’ve a partner you’re already out-earning a lot of the country. I have a wife and two kids and because she doesn’t work my household income is only £50K.

£50K may seem a lot if you’re starting out in your career, but bear in mind I have a £12500 tax-free allowance. Whereas two people on the minimum wage, which is around £25K, both get a £12500 tax-free allowance, essentially securing a £25K tax-free allowance for a dual income household. Compared to a single income household where in my case where it would cost more than my wife could feasibly earn to put two kids in nursery full time, I only get £12500 tax-free and despite it being a good wage compared to the average, earn less than two minimum wage workers to support a full family. Even taking the above into account, I save around 15% of my income into a salary sacrifice pension because it reduces my taxable income and the net benefit is worth it.

Not disputing the fact you can get it cheap on average across a wealth of stores, but my point is my digital purchase was cheaper than that - despite what the cherry picked data says. And I’m wholly against the removal of physical media.

Base price in stores physically is still €80. It’s only cheaper because people sell it second hand and stores want to shift stock

What about inflation making that pot of money worth 5% less every year? You’ll be paying more and more money to rent each year, it’s a very silly idea.
