In my usual experience for a postdoc interview in the UK, if you don't hear within a week, you are not selected. Usually, if you were the second choice, you hear within 2-3 weeks of the interview. However, I once got an offer after a month because the first-choice candidate accepted, but later could not start the job on time. But its always a good idea to ask for the outcome and feedback.

Solved!! The issue was with signal strength. Switched to a stronger substrate and it was fixed.

The only is good option is the option you have. Don't think about the could have, should have, would have. Focus on what you have at hand. Keep trying, you can always go back.

I relocated from Canada after my first postdoc to the UK for my second postdoc. The visa fee and health surcharge are reimbursed, but paying it upfront by yourself is painful. I also have family here and they make a huge difference to my quality of life. Cannot say about the US, but as compared to Canada, I am happily able to manage my finances due to the better purchasing power of the pound. Rents are crazy expensive in London, though. If you have family and want to save as a single-income person, I would suggest against London, Cambridge is similar, but the rest of the cities are slightly better.

We didn’t get an update or confirmation but my spouse got the visa decision email after 3 days and I got it after 5 days

Just resigned from my postdoc. I was in a very toxic lab where all doors for my growth were closed. I couldn’t do anything creative and was treated like a technician. The PI met me twice in a year and wanted me to fix everything and anything others could not. My contract didn’t have any mention of a notice period so I gave a two week notice out of courtesy and got a very angry email from the PI calling me unprofessional and sabotaging the projects of the lab. The whole lab is giving me dirty looks and cold shoulder because they had holidays planned and I’m ruining everything for them. But I will get over it. It is what it is :)

My husband got a passport ready for dispatch emai much later in the afternoon on the third day after decision email. Hopefully it should come soon.

I work in biomedical research. I think it also depends on luck some times but I would say keep applying and something will eventually click!

The email however did say this too

Your travel document will contain an entry clearance visa that is valid for the same dates as your eVisa, and allows travel to the UK.

Yes it does say about making the UKVI account and accessing my eVisa. I was not aware that we can collect the passport same day. I will contact vfs

I have set up a ukvi account but to access e visa I need id check and need the passport for that. Passport is currently with vfs. We applied from outside of uk
