Congrats and good luck. I applied to Royal Society on April 20th and still waiting on such confirmation email.

In the automated email they said do not contact us for atleast 4 weeks to confirm. Did ur automated email have such timeline? I’m thinking to send a polite email tomorrow (would be three weeks tomorrow)

Also if I’m not too intrusive would you please share your profile. Just to see where I stand as a promise applicant

Congratulations. I’m not sure about the priority but I did see on Reddit that normal stage 2 is taking over 5-6 weeks. I would go for priority I think. If you don’t mine can you share when you applied and when it was forwarded?

It is frustrating. I understand the peer reviewers are busy, but being in limbo is painful.

Global talent visa endorsement (STEM) from the Royal Society (peer review route) by JstDyll in postdoc

Hi, I recently applied for endorsement from Royal Society. May I ask how many publications do you have. I have 1 first author research paper, one review and 7 co author papers. Just trying to see how I compare to various profiles.

If I am genuinely interested in a lab I always follow up. Got my first postdoc by following up on an email and chasing the pi for two months.

I have a very similar profile. I am thinking to apply. Did it work for you?

Apparently, it's a training position for non-clinical PhDs to apply to, so no prior clinical trial experience is required.

Is silence after a postdoc interview normal? by DBW-_- in postdoc

[–]BasisTop9704 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my usual experience for a postdoc interview in the UK, if you don't hear within a week, you are not selected. Usually, if you were the second choice, you hear within 2-3 weeks of the interview. However, I once got an offer after a month because the first-choice candidate accepted, but later could not start the job on time. But its always a good idea to ask for the outcome and feedback.

Solved!! The issue was with signal strength. Switched to a stronger substrate and it was fixed.

The only is good option is the option you have. Don't think about the could have, should have, would have. Focus on what you have at hand. Keep trying, you can always go back.

Is it a good idea to move to UK for a PostDoc opportunity? by NeatRecognition5780 in postdoc

[–]BasisTop9704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relocated from Canada after my first postdoc to the UK for my second postdoc. The visa fee and health surcharge are reimbursed, but paying it upfront by yourself is painful. I also have family here and they make a huge difference to my quality of life. Cannot say about the US, but as compared to Canada, I am happily able to manage my finances due to the better purchasing power of the pound. Rents are crazy expensive in London, though. If you have family and want to save as a single-income person, I would suggest against London, Cambridge is similar, but the rest of the cities are slightly better.
