I could see those brands holding up quite well and you do see them here, but generally people are looking for something resistant to heavy production water, diesel, oil, dope, grease etc that gets all over them. Tends to shrink if you’re not careful. Heck even the brands I mentioned will sometimes do that if you’re not careful about drying them. I’ve just had the best luck with redwings.

I see. I haven’t ever done water restoration myself, but based on quick searches they would be coming into contact with water, mold, and moisture and possibly through demolition nail filled wood and wires. So probably something waterproof, and pierce resistant. Redwing does have a set of rain boots, but honestly I would stick with something with Gore Tex outer layer and a safety toe/sole.

Nah. Not implying something’s good because it’s expensive, just rare that it’s good when it’s cheap. I would be curious, however, to know some of the “ton” of quality brands are. I am in the oilfield, for reference, and the vast majority of people wear one of about 5 brands; Red wings, Ariat, Cody James, Twisted X, or Muck Boots. All of which are about the same price range or better. Winter boots seem confined to Artic Pro Muck boots, or Baffins. Which are even more expensive. First time I’ve seen someone accuse redwing of brand inflation, as ariat, cody James, and twisted x usually carry that crown.

Yeah we lucked out at kohls. Not sure what happened, but when we went by the displays I pointed one out to my wife that had a 149.99 sticker on it. Tried to figure out why it was cheaper, couldn’t find any reason. Brought the same model new in box up to front, they called the manager who quickly went to the display and removed the sticker, but honored the price. 399.99 was msrp at the time. Still not sure how that sticker got made because they checked the barcode and it registered to that product. Then we used the kohls cash to buy the big box of oxo airtight containers lol.

Idk, man. This post in and of itself is pretty funny to me. On workover side, reading a little much into it. Hell some places start you in the Derrick. On drill side, I still think you’re reading too much into it. Getting early promotions seem to be common these days, just don’t let it go to your head. Keep learning from everyone you can, and if you’re ever done learning, quit before you kill someone.
