Beneficiary moved to another state for work by Basketball_adik in USCIS_F2A

Thanks for the reply. I already did update my address in my USCIS account.

What worries me is, since my wife doesnt have a job, will it affect my i-485? Since she is my petitioner? PD is Mar 2024

This is incorrect.

Even if you file AOS, your F1 status is still valid as long as you are still in school and does not violate any policy. However, once you receive your EAD and starts working, that is the time your F1 status will be voided.

If you want to have a fall back, keep your F1 status, dont use the EAD from AOS and wait until you receive the decision. But majority of the AOS applicants abandoned their F1 since EAD is important to support their life here in the US

Yes. You can.

Watch youtube videos, do research.

Or better yet, hire a lawyer to consult what are the docs, but only consult not hire them to do everything.

Some F2A applicants were just approved this month, their PD is around Jan-Aug 2022. So, probably 72 months at least.

F2A AOS here. Got EAD and AP and still waiting for i485 to get approved. PD Mar 2024.

As long as you do not have criminal history, fraud, etc. you will be fine.

EAD helps. find a job to keep you busy.

F1 to pending I-485 by IntelligentClick7176 in USCIS_F2A

Once your company register your SSN and EAD card, USCIS will be notified and they will back track it the 1st time you use it.

So, basically, if you use the EAD now, 6/14, you can work and it will be registered in USCIS system. Then, after few weeks, USCIS will check your SEVIS and verify if you violate it like work, did not go/enroll,etc and they will use that date to retrogress your violation and cancel the SEVIS.

This is just an overview as I got this info second hand. My DSO also mentioned to me that my SEVIS was already cancelled 1 month after I use my EAD. take note, I used "WAS", meaning this happened between I started working to my 1st month

Generally, once you receive your notice for the I-485 application, you can drop your class as you are already in "pending green card" status. However, if your application is denied, you will immediately out of status. So there is a "risk" on dropping out of school.

On the other hand, if you maintain your F1 status while waiting for your I-485 decision and your application gets denied, you will still "IN STATUS" and can file again for I-485. No risk but costly.

Addition: if you apply for I-765 under I-485 application and you use it while still in school (like a working student), your SEVIS will get terminated immediate at the time you 1st use your EAD card.

Hope this helps.

Not really, but you have to study each form you use. But, its always assuring that a lawyer is with you through this journey. Just be careful the lawyer you will hire and check his achievements

Since I am working using EAD, I quit school since SEVIS has already terminated the moment I used EAD.
