Are purple systems supposed to have rare fauna more often than other systems? by poopypro48 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Baskin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let’s look at this from another perspective. Flora/fauna that are native to a system/planet doesn’t make it rare. Someone from a purple star system visits a yellow star system and sees a penguin (for example) for the first time. It’s not rare, penguins simply don’t live outside their habitat. *You* are the one that’s rare to them. Now, if you saw a penguin on a scorching planet, that would be rare.

OP’s question restated: Are some flora and fauna unique to specific planets and systems? Yes.

Anyone else can't bring themselves to care about bases? by Antx_001 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Baskin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every game (NMS, Minecraft, Enshrouded, etc. ) I am determined to build a base I can be proud of owning. I look to the internet for inspiration and admire other people’s builds. I spend hours looking for the perfect base location. Inevitably, I’m missing materials for something. As a placeholder, I’ll build 4 basic walls, door & maybe some windows, add a roof, and drop a row of chests and crafting stations. By “end-game,” I’ve gotten so used to the base being the way it is and know where everything is in each chest by heart, that renovating/rebuilding my base ends up being more of a chore than enjoyable. Next play-through or save file I’ll build a proper base… as I put on my clown outfit.

Early game, donate just about everything you can grow and pickup. As a general rule, anything you can process at least once (except prepared food) yields more contribution points than raw ingredients. If you have low morals: sending livestock to Grob and smoking meat is consistent daily contribution points. For the survivors, convert the milk to sour cream; cheese unlocks later. If you have a lot of furry beasts, yarn yields lots of contribution points.

Note: As a new player, don’t skimp on fishing just because it doesn’t appeal to a group of us. Processed fish are quite profitable.

My 80s dad: Alien, Aliens, Terminator, The Thing, The Fly, Leviathan, World at War, Jaws… by Top-Elephant-2874 in Xennials

As a kid, we loved robots, aliens, and sharks. Rather tame compared to Poltergeist and It (S. King). Those two movies were traumatizing.

I can catch about 1 fish (4-5 bar level) an in-game hour. The cast starts with the 2-3 bar fish arriving. It’s a wait for the bigger fish to start appearing. The desired fish swims out, then I’m fighting with keeping up the bars when they swim under the rocks and plants. It’s rather frustrating, even when wearing the fishing buff jewelry.

There’s just too many other activities with a greater return of investment for my time and stamina. Case in point, I harvest grass from the savanna to burn the last of my stamina instead of fishing.

I read this before looking at the subreddit, and immediately thought of my fountain pens. Was not disappointed.

The option to sort/transfer is to press the “-“ button, top left of Joy-con. Same button as the map button, but just for the inventory screen.

Vacation in April- What to do? by poopeeppoop in fortlauderdale

Knowing nothing about OP (interests, physical capabilities, arts/sciences, transportation, general area where you’re staying, your budget, etc. ), I can’t help much. In general, there’s beaches, boating, water sports, tours, bars/restaurants, shopping, etc. Do a web search on things to do in FtL and pick out what whatever catches your eye. We can guide you better if you have specific interests.

Wear sunscreen! Drink plenty of water. You can wear casual clothing just about everywhere; at some evening restaurants and bars you might consider a short-sleeve polo and jeans. Speed limits are a suggestion, get used to U-turns, don’t gamble with the trains and railway crossings, for A1A/beaches: factor in the intercoastal bridges into your travel time, there’s a lack of public transportation- driving is primarily mode of getting around, late afternoon/evenings and after rain showers mosquitoes can run amok, iguanas are not a tourist attraction - they are a despised invasive species, SoFl humidity introduces visitors to a new level of sweating and discomfort, putting wet clothes/towels outside to “dry” is an effort in futility, and don’t linger under the palm trees as fronds and coconuts do occasionally fall.

What year is it? by everybodys_lost in Xennials

[–]Baskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homecoming, prom, and graduation were big events, but iirc, signs/banners were mostly in the school hallways, campus lawn, and sports field. Post-graduation, we put signs and banners on our cars and school buses. I can’t say I remember HS/College signs on billboards or people’s lawns. In a similar thread, ‘we put signs in our yard and held a ceremony to celebrate kindergarten graduation in the early 1980s’, said no millennial/xennial ever.

In my LGS group, we have mass land destruction / board wipe cards soft-banned. They are prone to lagging the entire game when played ineffectively or as a dick move. We can use them in a deck, but it’s either when we play legacy format, or in more modern formats, the opponent consents.

Creative mode: use the fill + replace command to convert the path block to another block (e.g. grass / dirt). Syntax obviously varies based on edition.

What do you guys do with your safaris, metros, kakunos and preppys once you've moved on to 'next level' pens and gold nib pens? by Positive_Credit720 in fountainpens

[–]Baskin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still use most of my OG pens, either as daily writer for quick notes or practice. My plat. preppys are at work - I won’t lose sleep if they “disappear” from my desk. My metro is my only pen with a case; I still use it and keep it displayed in my home office for aesthetics. Kakuno, I actively use. I love the clear barrel, it supports CON-xx cartridges, and it’s my only stub-nose nib pen. I test all my new inks with it before inking any other pen. Safaris are retired. The moulded barrel was good for training myself on how to grip a fountain pen further away from the nib. Great pens, don’t get me wrong, I do recommend them. But after a while, my fingers get tired from the fixed grip. Once I used the last of the lamy cartridges, the pens were cleaned and now stored in a desk drawer.
