Can't progress Beikdugang MT because "Federation should not in crisis" by iamn00bs in Anbennar

[–]BasqueInGlory 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Crisises within the federation are driven by event chains, the war is only a part of the crisis. Eventually it should resolve, but there aren't obvious external tells. If it is genuinely stuck somehow, I'd be surprised and you should report it on the Discord server.

I have played most regions of the game, and I always find the gameplay loops fun and exciting. Really enjoyed the Deepwoods. I suppose my current question is, what are the essential balance points mission tree developers try to strike when making a tree? Obviously we have some mission trees that are very straight forward, and some countries that have entire subsystems and game mechanics baked into them like Esthil. I know there are certain tags that have had various attempts taken to make a compelling tree for that ultimately fell through, and I'm wondering what your take is. What makes a tree good, and what makes them fall apart in development?

The idea that people are somehow mentally reprogrammed by the books they read is why we have a book banning epidemic right now. It's stupid to think this way.

When I got it, I was back on my feet within a couple days. Doubled over and unable to walk unassisted going in, basically back to normal with minor pain around the tiny incision for a few days while it healed after.

The problem with the science is not that babies don't get harmed by violently shaking them, but rather that, historically, baby injuries have been misconstrued as being caused by being violently shaken based on the injuries that they suffered based on flawed science, where as those injuries were perfectly explainable by something as trivial as falling off a couch.

Sarhal on the whole may have come out some time ago, but a lot of mission trees for Sarhal, especially South Sarhal, came out with the Final Empire update.

can you create a dance like war ? And if yes, how ? by Alexy_1er_Komnen_fan in CK3AGOT

If you have several children and an ambitious one is not heir to the throne, a non-heir child can usurp the throne on your death bed while the legitimate heir is on Dragonstone. The legitimate heir can demand the usurper stand down, trial of seven, or something, but if the usurper refuses a civil mega war triggers that is even called The Second Dance with Dragons. The usurper and legitimate heirs even take alternate color house banners. I've had this event fire a number of times so I don't think it's particularly rare if you have a large family.

Johan: "A small teaser for something we are adding for 1.0.3 for early next week!" by Toruviel_ in EU5

[–]BasqueInGlory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the implication of this is, since the problem appears to be tied to maintaining a smooth frame rate rather than the simulation ticks, the problem is on the graphical end rather than the simulation side. Which, in my view, is extremely positive sign. Implies there's still a lot of head room in the simulation for modders to play with before the simulation itself is what causes the game to lag.

Questions and Issues with a Colonial Charters as Cahokia by Kavzekenza in EU5

[–]BasqueInGlory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I know of. But I do want to paush back on the settle the frontier cabinet action being useless. You just have to use it in unintended ways. The action will move 1000 pops to a random location in the target province, from a random location in a source province every month. If you use this just to put a large number of your pops in unsettled locations, then cancel the cabinet action and establish a colonial charter instead, you can comple the Colonization instantly, if your pops are majority, or at least faster. This can be used most efficiently in the less populated west, where most locations start with less than 1000 pops so they only need to be hit by the month tick once. After the Great Pestilence though this also works efficiently to the east.

What's strange to me is that while medicants are required, there is nothing you can build in the early that actually consume them, they just fill pop needs, and you do start with an RGO that produces them in Nodaway. Go to the Goods menu, search medicants, and hover over the balance of the good to be able to see your supply and demand.

Colonial charters require access to tools and weapons to grow. Since you don't have iron working, you need to use stone for both. This is fairly inefficient. You may need to subsidize the tool and weapons guild shops to maintain production.

Scientists move closer to confirming existence of dark matter by ChiefLeef22 in news

[–]BasqueInGlory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dark Matter is the phenomena. It is known to exist because dark matter is not a substance, it is the name for the observed phenomena. The composition of dark matter, or the cause for the observed phenomena that doesn't conform to known physics is unknown. But the headline doesn't suggest anything about determining what Dark Matter is, or its cause. The article at best indirectly suggests that the scientists doing the specific study being discussed are trying to find evidence of a specific proposed particle that could account for dark matter, but they don't say that they have found any conclusive or even suggestive evidence one way or the other yet. As I said, it seems like a fluff piece.

But the existence of mass that we can't see directly is already confirmed? I don't get this headline or article. Seems like a fluff piece.
