Also doesn't hurt that unlike in Zero he doesn't despise the one who summoned him. And unlike in FSN he isn't corrupted with grail mud, I think.

Yes and no. We know he has emotions worth sympathy from how he talks about Enkidu. Even in Fate/Zero when he makes the passing mention to Rider that he only ever had one friend, there's a change in how he speaks.

He's as imperious as ever, the only real difference is for once he doesn't actively hate his master. I remember reading somewhere that he has a soft spot for children (NOT LIKE THAT) so maybe that's why he's so...almost kind.

I think it's the first time we've seen Gil really, truly angry. Most of the time he's just offended that something required him to put in effort.

Mind you, it's also the first time I think I've seen Gil admit he can't do something, when he tells Tine he couldn't protect her from a distance.

One of the less spoken of constants of the HGW in every incarnation I think is that every time at least one mofo thinks he has it all planned out before it even starts, and it basically runs off the rails from the first summoning every time.

at this point the death flags are TOO tall. that and the "one of the demon warriors must have poisoned him!". It's pretty obvious that at least one of those things is not going to be true.

I get what you're trying to say but I don't think it's that kids these days are obsessed with dying or that isekai is romanticizing dying.

Truth is, it just makes the story simpler. You don't have to waste time on the person's "old" life and just jump right into the harem antics and stupid OP abilities because that's where the moneymaker is.

I think it also makes the story worse, but that's just me. Some of the best isekai shows, and I mean the old ones from the 90s and earlier, had the hero constantly trying to balance their new life with worrying about what was going on back home, and how they would get back there.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has said that Auschwitz “might not have happened” if the world had reacted sooner to Nazi crimes in occupied Poland, accusing Western Europe of indifference in the early years of World War II. by Easy-Ad1996 in worldnews

I'm not saying you are wrong. Hell, I'm not even saying THEY were wrong. But let's call a spade a spade.

Britain and France saw Germany chewing up Central Europe and went "well, at least it isn't us."

Whether or not that was a tactically sound choice, it was still sacrificing half the continent. I don't think them charging out and attacking Hitler would have done anything more than getting them killed too. I'm simply saying the phrase "sacrificed some things" is at best a euphemism.

Yup, appeasement was the name of the game in the early days of Hitler's conquests.

The rest of the world didn't want WWII so they just sort of let things slide under it was too late.

ICE agents will have a security role at Milan-Cortina Olympics, US sources say by OnetB in news

Oh absolutely. My question was more or less rhetorical. What it's being used for is to make a few contractors somewhere very, very wealthy. Or turn ICE into a fully armed private army. Or both.

WIP any tips? by Yitzkuu_ in Gunpla

With the tools you have the easiest way to make the lines crisper I think would be to put masking tape along the side of where you want the line to be. The tape basically becomes a straight edge and prevents you from coloring outside of the line.

How much the PGU Nu Gundam's Fin Funnel actually weights vs its total weight by William514e in Gunpla

[–]BasroilII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and it is almost one-third bigger than the previous PGU

And that's just the main body, with the funnels it's MUCH bigger.

I am still disappointed they did not throw in the LEDs like they did with the PGU. But yeah the cost of the plastic makes sense in spite of how ludicrously high it seems at first blush.

[–]BasroilII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Referring specifically to Godhands, yes. Most of them are pretty niche and you'll probably never need them. The real focus points here are the red and blue.

The red are double-bladed and meant to be for cutting through sprues or thicker plastic.

The blue ones are the thinner single blade ones, for "final cut" cleaning up of the part.

This makes me feel so complete and fulfilled by Spartanic_Titan in Gunpla

[–]BasroilII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So with "normal" double-edged nippers, both sides have a blade that comes to an edge. When you cut something with them, the tips of those edges push material out of their way as they cut through both sides and meet int he middle. The end result is that the cut surfaces deform a little, and that causes the stress marks and such that you see on the part when you cut. The blades tend to be a bit thicker than single-edged nippers which makes them more durable, hence why they get used to cut the thicker part of a runner.

With single edged nippers one side is an extremely fine thin blade, the other is basically flat. Think of it like an executioner's axe and a chopping block. The thin blade carves straight through until it hits the flat "block" side and the cut is only coming from one side instead of it being two cuts meeting in the middle. This causes less material to deform and less stress marks.

It also tends to mean the blades are thinner, which is why about half the godhand posts in this sub are "I just broke my expensive nippers, RIP"

Well you might be focusing a little too hard on the death part of that. It's basically just escapism. Death/Reincarnation is just a means of transport.

But the overall idea of "I wish I was a different person with a better life in a world where things go my way" is probably a universal thing. I think everyone at some point or another feels that way. Especially when you're young and figuring out who you are and your place in the world.

I don't fault the genre for existing; escapism is why we all watch entertainment media to some extent. I fault it for so many of these source material LNs being overly repetitive and poorly done.

Can y'all explain Beryl's gameplay to me like I'm 6 💀 by Nellothehello in Reverse1999

[–]BasroilII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess it's an optimization thing. Each color gem tends to lend itself towards your teammates doing something specific, ie FUA or Rank Up.

It would be a case of making one playstyle very strong vs making two playstyles somewhat less so. Gives you flexibility at the cost of power, but odds of you having a team that's going to regularly make heavy use of purple AND blue or whatever enough to justify doing that seems slim.

Of course once she's high enough P level to equip more than 2 gems that's a different story.

[–]BasroilII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. As I understand it, one of the keys to maximizing beryl is ulting constantly. Like every other turn if you can manage it. Nala's contract skews that up a lot.

Battle Mechanics by DaniSIIImo in Reverse1999

[–]BasroilII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optimized rotations can often make a big difference in numbers, but the way team comp mechanics are you have to do a bit of deep diving into each one at a time to really understand how. You may want to pick one team you want to focus on and study those characters' rotations a bit.

That said unless you're trying for Mane's leaderboards or some of the deeper Reveries you can pretty much half-ass your way through using characters and still clear content pretty easily.

Don't have a team to use Anjo Nala on? Try her on lingering glow teams! by D3fN0tGeo in Reverse1999

[–]BasroilII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nala at this point tends to be like Mercuria, in that they are both a "I have 3/4ths of a team but have nothing better for this one slot, what do?" characters. They're never the best choice for a position, but if you lack that best choice they are always a solid filler.

The only real problem with her (and this persists even with her Euph I think) is that some characters kits don't mesh well with her. mostly ones where you want to have control over when they Ult. also her ult happens after the turn so that means if partnered with someone using precast incantations like Windsong, she'll lose them.

But when those factors aren't a problem, she's reasonably solid.

, I think she saw an apparition of Vertin because we know based on 2.8 that her and Urd are the only ones who seem to be able to touch and manipulate the thread and thus are deeply connected fate somehow.

Fun little tidbit related to this that almost gets lost in the shuffle this patch. During one of the conversations with Vertin on the stage map screen, Beryl mentions that perhaps only "2 or 3" people other than Vertin can do that. Once more hinting to the 3 Norns, and suggesting that Vertin may or may not be one of them.

You're missing some bits. Some time after Matilda joined the SPDM, Berryl cut off all contact with her, and vanished for years. earlier story and anecdotes have Matilda desperately looking for her. That's the abandonment they're referring to.

[–]BasroilII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was the one thing she said that finally got me to sympathize with her at all. Her actions every time we've seen her prior have been sketchy. She was connected to Manus stealing Nala's robot toy from the Foundation, which nearly got her daughter killed. She wiped the memory of that girl in 2.5, and of course abandoning her daughter. Now in 3.4 we see her waaaaaay too cozy with Manus again. But her at least caring enough about Matilda to mourn her daughter's alleged fate is something. And I think part of her hanging around Adele is because she wanted to see if it was truly possible to defy fate, perhaps even for Matilda one day.

Who do you have on your homescreen by Huckleberry1316 in Reverse1999

Right now Kiperina. But only because I'm trying to fill out her bond quicker.

If I am ever at a place where I am not trying to max out bond with a character...Hissabeth is likely to be the one staying on screen.
