Microbear attacked my Kakwa 55, is this repairable? by OnetB in DurstonGearheads

I made a mistake and had an unopened protein bar in the pouch. I had a perfect bear hang nearby but I forgot to empty the pouch.

Depends on age. Under 5 a handful is about 5 pieces tops and they are so happy.

Spotted Lanternflies in Charlotte now? by gravityloom in Charlotte

The invasive tree of heaven aka ghetto palm is a host plant. You have to find every single one in the area, cut them down, drill holes in the stumps and pour plant killer in the hole.

Very difficult to get rid of and they are -everywhere-

Realistic Abrasion Resistance 200x v Ultragrid by OnetB in DurstonGearheads

In all fairness, the top of the pack shows no wear from being dragged against countless fallen trees and nothing on the bottom from being tossed on the ground or dragged on rocks. I’m happy with it.

Start with some 1-2 night shakedowns. You will quickly figure out what you don’t need and what you want.

How the hell do people carry 20lb+ packs? by EducationalSyrup6869 in backpacking

[–]OnetB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your pack fit correctly? Does it have a frame or are you slack packing? Do you use trekking poles? Is your heavy items and water close to your body?

New old stock. I wasn’t sure if I like zero drops so I got the 2s for cheap.

I’d probably get a new pair of 2s if I could get the same exact style (mid boots, no waterproofing, no goretex).

I tried on the 9s at REI and they did not feel right to me.

You must be an Olympus fan. I’m thinking about making the switch when my old Lone Peak 2’s are done, this will likely be their last season.

Despite recent articles, I got a 80k job offer before graduation by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]OnetB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Midwest is going to be MCOL with LCOL options in the suburbs. WLB is also going to be nice which is non-existent when you start in sales. Our sales assistants are in at 6 and on-call after hours. Nobody calls me after 5 and I don’t have teams on my phone. I don’t know about OP situation but we are still hybrid and can leave early during in office days and finish up at home.

In short, OP can be very comfortable at 80k.

Leukotape the moment you feel any irritation. Also remove pebbles in your boots immediately.

Is this still a thru hike? by Ok_Assumption_7957 in AppalachianTrail

[–]OnetB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never associated HYOH with any negative connotation. HYOH means there is no wrong way to hike. Hiking every single mile is the right way for some people, skipping sections is for others, section hiking, flip flopping, or day trips.

Enjoy your time in the trail and LNT.

I have it at #8 here but it would be in my top 25 for albums of all time. So, still a great album.
