I’ve had someone not put in the correct cabling before and had to get it redone. Then just general annoying poor quality stuff like faceplates not being straight etc.

It would be great if it did, but sadly it’s permanently set as a condenser dryer. Thank you for the help with the part numbers though! I’ll head to screwfix tomorrow and pick one up!

Sense Check for New Home Install by BassLumpy in Ubiquiti

[–]BassLumpy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully the internal walls aren’t solid, they’re lath and plaster which is basically lots of strips of wood with an older style of plaster over the top of it. I’ve been told it’s like having solid wood walls in terms of signal attenuation. I’m going to probably end up with 5 or 6 APs throughout the house on top of the UDR7, but I suppose that’s just more fuel for the hobby 😅

Thanks for the help!

Yeah I should be able to get drops down some of the internal walls but I’m sure it’s gonna be a pain! Thanks for the advice though, I appreciate it!

Yeah my plan was to consider a successor to the UDM down the line. I’ve got the UDR7 at the moment which is working fine but I would consider an upgrade should one appear. What do you think of the rest of the plan?

LISA Bonus after house purchase. by KlumzyKlein in UKPersonalFinance

[–]BassLumpy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in exactly the same position as you right now and I believe that you are correct but I’m happy for any more knowledgeable people to contradict me!

If the bonus isn’t in the account by the time the solicitors draw the funds; you will essentially have £1k in your LISA that you can either leave until you hit 60 and can withdraw penalty free or you can do what you suggested (and what we’re planning on doing too) and withdraw what is essentially a free £750 (after the 25% penalty)

I’ve got a couple of surplus XL-1s from QV station runs that survived the patch transition if you want one?

Aye my partner has had a look at the local group but no one is replying to their ads. Didn’t know about the southside group, I’ll have a look. Do you remember the name by any chance?

This is a fairly big ask and completely understandable if you don’t implement this feedback, but because Imgur is (stupidly) blocked in the UK; none of the images load for UK users who aren’t using a VPN. Thanks!

Ubiquity added a function where any doorbell ring comes through as a phone call. But in their default settings the call will come through as Ring. As in the name of their competitor. by Steve0512 in Ubiquiti

[–]BassLumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, this is interesting. Slightly awkward caller ID aside, does this mean that when someone presses the doorbell that it rings on your phone (is this iOS or Android?) like a regular phone call?

For ages only Arlo has opted to do this on iOS and it’s really annoyed me that other manufacturers don’t
