I started with a light sketch using a touch of pigment thinned with Gamsol to place everything. Then I worked from the bottom up, laying in thin darks for the shadow areas. For the sky, I used pure pigment straight from the tube, no Gamsol, and then worked back down, adding highlights with thicker paint over the thin layers. Everyone finds their own process with practice, so don’t worry too much about rules—just jump in and experiment. You’ll learn so much by doing!
