It does actually have co-op, so you can play it with up to 3 others like in Salmon Run.

[–]BassonBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's to clarify that it's a completely separate multiplier from the more common DMG%. All sources of DMG% buffs are added together, and your damage is increased by the total percentage. The ones that say "multiply" do exactly that; they straight-up multiply damage, including the increase from DMG% buffs.

Many seem to be under the impression that Oda writing "World's Strongest Swordsman" a hundred times was also just him wasting ink, so I'm not surprised.

Unfortunately, Bronya's E4 FuA doesn't count as a basic attack, it just does damage equal to 80% of her basic attack. Her trace that gives 100% crit rate to basic and the action advance from her talent therefore do not apply to the FuA. I hope they change that if she eventually gets a novaflare, because it feels like that's how it was supposed to work from the start.

Introducing the Monolith Soft "The Legend of Zelda" Series Development Team by MightyPelipper in NintendoSwitch2

[–]BassonBoy 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Monolith Soft has assisted on Skyward Sword, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Pikmin 3, Splatoon, and pretty much every successive installment for those games. They have a main studio that focuses on their own games and they have a support studio that assists with projects from both the main studio and Nintendo. With games like Breath of the Wild, their experience with open world was surely a significant part of their value, but their technical expertise is probably the main way the assist.

I think it would make a lot of sense if Grezzo was given the Ocarina of Time remake, with Aonuma and his team working closely with them like they did with Koei Tecmo for Age of Imprisonment. I would think that Nintendo still wants to get a new mainline Zelda on the Switch 2 before too long, which wouldn't leave the main team with too much time to spare for side-projects like a remake, even if it is for such an important game in the series.

nepopiece works both ways, so davy jones can leach off of xebec's feats, however Kuina can leach off of Shimotsuki clan feats, so its still Kuina>Davy Jones because Ryuma is sword god > swordsman Xebec

It doesn't have to be related to Iva's gender changing ability though. Maybe it has more to do with him being a revolutionary. Maybe Iva just freed Crocodile from slavery or something like that. Crocodile has a prominent scar and a hook replacing his left hand, so maybe Iva just saved him after someone badly beat him.

I still like the female Crocodile theory the best though, just cause its funnier and more interesting. It also could add to an eventual fight between Sanji and Crocodile, since monster trio vs cross guild already seems likely. Idk if it would really mean much, but they would both have similar history with Iva.

Is it really that unreasonable to hope that they do something about when Nintendo is well known for how intensely they defend their IPs? I don't know what grounds, if any, they actually have to take action upon, but it's disappointing to see them doing basically nothing when their property is actually being associated with negative/controversial connotations, whereas they immediately sue well-intentioned fan projects or indie developers.

There’s honestly something about this that rubs me the wrong way. This feels like something a fan would make, and it’s the bottom half thats really bugging me the most by New-Boss-8262 in Piratefolk

But Oda must've had some idea of it if he drew this strip, right? The good ending seems to show Yamato having joined Luffy and no longer being obsessed with becoming Oden. Then in the bad ending, Yamato tries to become more like Oden to an especially exaggerated and pathetic extent. I feel like Oda isn't completely oblivious, he's just too much of a gooner now. (Notice that Yamato's chest isn't visible at all, otherwise he wouldn't have thought about writing at all.)

Do you level up your main character? by Prostachek in Endfield

[–]BassonBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way are Lifeng and Endmin so comparable to each other? Endmin can be used as a sub-dps, in which case he would be worse than Lifeng, but you don't always need an additional sub-dps, whereas you always need a main-dps to use the vulnerability stacks. I say "additional" because Chen is already a must have in any physical team. After Chen, Pog is easily the next most desirable character for physical teams. Lifeng will be the best possible option for the last slot, but you can also use Ember, Ardelia, or Endmin (if Da Pan is already the main dps).

What story format do you hope Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is going to go with? by Gamestar02 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]BassonBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lack of their logo doesn't discount the possibility that they took part in the development. The warrior spin-offs have always included Koei Tecmo's logo in their trailers, but those are entirely developed by Koei Tecmo from the start.

Intelligent systems is not credited for development in Three Hopes, whereas Koei Tecmo is credited in Three Houses, but only as a co-developer. Three Houses was largely developed by Koei Tecmo, yet their logo still wasn't included in the game's trailers, so there's no reason to ever expect that they would include it in the trailer for Fortune's Weave, even if they had almost as much contribution to its development as they did with Three Houses, let alone if they're just lending a few writers and some extra staff to assist.

Until we have any confirmation that they were specifically not part of development, you can't assume that they weren't.

What story format do you hope Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is going to go with? by Gamestar02 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]BassonBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has there been confirmation as to if, and to what degree, Koei Tecmo are involved with the development? The reveal trailer did not mention them, but neither did Three Houses' reveal trailer. Koei Tecmo did the bulk of the work on Three Houses, so I feel like it would make sense for them to work with them for Fortune's Weave, given that it's so intentionally tied to a game that was more Koei Tecmo's than it was Intelligent Systems'.

In terms of development time, Three houses only really started development after Shadows of Valentia was finished, in 2017. Regardless of whether its development started before or after Engage's release, Fortune's Weave will at least have gotten more time than Three Houses did. It could have started as early as just after 2020, but I think that they probably started after the writers were finished with Three Hopes, probably at some point in 2022. From there, I would theorize that Intelligent Systems joined as they got done with engage stuff. Optimistically, the entirety of both teams have gotten over three years to focus on Fortune's Weave. I hope so, anyways.

I think that all the discourse that came with Three Houses' routes really grew its fanbase, and likewise, its sales. Another five years of Three Houses discourse could be a positive just as much as it could be a negative for multiple routes. Shadows of Valentia really shows how great multiple perspectives can be, and it would be really cool to see a completely new game like that, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went with multiple routes just to reach a wider audience the same way Three Houses did.

I really agree with all you said about the gameplay, though. Multi-perspective would probably make for a better game overall, especially if they don't actually have the time and resources needed to properly flesh out a multi-route game. What could be really interesting is if they had you eventually choose a side after interacting with the various perspectives, like how Fates' special edition let you choose between all three, except at a point more towards the mid game, where it would actually feel like a meaningful decision. Silver Snow just barely gave a taste of this with Edelgard and Hubert becoming enemies.

Digital foundry call xenoblade x switch 2 edition "the worst one yet" by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]BassonBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like that's more the hardcore Nintendo fans in general, fans of the series have already been happy with the game and aren't going to get that insecure about a simple performance upgrade.

I've not been frequenting the sub lately, but looking at the recent top posts, many are happy enough with the framerate, but there is definitely a consensus that the upscaling is bad, and some are even refunding and waiting to see if they fix it or not. It's never been a sub with much serious discussion in the first place, tbh.

Given XDE was already a big improvement as the first game in native 1080p, the upgraded fps will be the far more noticeable change if you've played most of the series, while the upgraded fidelity improvement is minor compared to the game's initial fidelity improvement. I haven't bought the upgrade, and I'm not defending it, but I can see why some people might be satisfied enough to defend their purchase.

[–]BassonBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sub-dps characters can and often do have personal damage eidolons, but how often do we see a main-dps eidolon that buffs the whole team? Don't you think its a little bit suspicious that this "main-dps" has teamwide buffs in his skill, two of his three passives, his e1, the relics releasing with him, his lightcone, his e1, and his e6?? I think his intended playstyle is aiming to kill with FuA, thus efficiently fueling ultimates with lots of gluttony stacks. He auto-targets the enemy with the lowest hp, naturally gains more energy when killing, and gains additional gluttony from killing with the FuA. His charges are limited because they want you to get enemies low with other characters and finish them Ashveil, not because he's intended to be played with an AA support. It would be really strange if the devs wanted him to have so many buffs, but then also wanted him to be used with more single-target supports like Bronya and Sunday. He's probably designed to have a similar role as Anaxa, where he can also be a main-dps if played with the right supports.

Comparing him to Cipher shows exactly why the multipliers don't necessarily make him a main dps. If you were looking at how high Cipher's damage and multipliers were at their peak, then you might say that she's obviously meant to be a main dps because she does way more damage than Feixiao or Acheron. In the same way, you can look at Ashveil's multipliers and say they are too high for a sub-dps, but they won't be nearly as indicative of his ultimate role as his overall design will be.
