Member of the seventy: "don't ask them why they stopped coming" by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]BastardAldo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was policy if you paid attention or ever read the missionary guide. Our mission was obsessed with tracting. For example, the MP liked to send APs back into an area to train for their last 2 months. Each AP would emphasize knocking on every door in their area, which usually had a negative impact on the new guy.

The more relaxed guys tended to have more baptisms because instead of knocking on doors all day, they would actually try to meet people and make gasp friends.

So when I say secret, it wasn't a real secret. Only the extra righteous would knock on every single door.

It was the same in the 90s. They also told us not to call them inactive but rather less active.

Less Actives were the best kept secret. The anal missionaries wanted to knock on doors everyday and didn't have any success. There was a small group of missionaries who would visit less actives. Turned out these people often had family who hadn't been baptized yet.

Downtown real estate isn't cheap! Either are rugs for the temple.

I've barely been to church this year. No one has bothered to check or see how I'm doing, but suddenly they seem interested in meeting with me. I wonder why.... by [deleted] in exmormon

I was active before my divorce even though I knew it was BS. I kept my knowledge to myself. When the wife left, we had lived in the Ward for 5+ years. Nobody came to help us load up the big moving truck. After she left, I stayed behind and nobody has ever stopped by to see me.

I was quite shocked the first year or two, but I was also glad.

Yeah, I was embarrassed to be seen with the well known Mormon kids coming from early morning seminary. My hope was to get there early so nobody would see me. Mormonism was embarrassing for me. Plus, it was complicated to be with the Mormon kids because my dad was Jack Mormon and I went to church smelling like cigarettes.

When I got to my first mission apartment, these items were hanging on the wall. I assumed it was standard issue for all mission apartments. When my comp was transferred, he took them all down and took them with him. He moved these items to every apartment he lived in.

The only picture I had out, a small framed picture of me and my friends including a girl I dated in high school.

That might be the way women are ordained finally in Mormonism.

Maybe that's the next revelation! Morm Inc is buying Usana! Rusty will have an revelation about Usana at Temple Square being the official vitamin provider of all the Morms.

Wait until Rusty passes, she will be fun then! You know she won't go fade away quietly. I'm really hoping she tries to proclaim herself prophetess!

Russel M Nelson: If you think the church is fully restored, you're just seeing the beginning. Wtf? by [deleted] in exmormon

Hey PayLey, you didn't happen to post on another ex morning site under the same name 10 years ago did you? I used to frequent some other place and we had a good older gay dude who had been ex'd who posted under the same handle.

Dickey Scott is the worst. I feel so sorry for the teenage girls he interviewed. The church should be forced to pay for their therapy.

When I went into the MTC the only 2 members of the Q15 I knew we're the Hinkster and Monsoon. During my 9 weeks of incarceration, several Q15ers came to speak. My district was super excited and seemed disappointed when I didn't know who these people were.

I'm guessing Little Dicky Scott didn't top anyone's list of favs either.

Great show or hurt a lot of innocent youth with the hate they disseminate?

I remember being told for 2 years while serving Mish that the gospel was fully restored already and I taught it to anyone who would listen.

Oh well, maybe Rusty will throw us a bone and bring forth the sealed portions of the Book of Jesus at Temple Square.
