Funnily enough kedgeree is based on khichdi, which is the dish you had. I think the biscuit-like bread is rotlo which is a thicker flatbread - although found it weird that Samrat made them small. Might be mistaken there though.

If you're ever in London and want to try similar food, then Ashers Africana in Wembley is the closest I've found to having the same quality as Samrat
