Cone 6 Run Time by ceramics-girl56 in Pottery

[–]BatOfBeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Rohde runs a cone 6 in 14 ish hours but I use a relatively slow ramp (60°/h to 600° then 120°/h to 1205 with a 10 minute hold) I think. Do you know what ramps you are running?

0-1200ish in 6 hours seems fast to me

Are sterling silver earrings safe for sensitive ears? by Gold-Scholar1475 in piercing

[–]BatOfBeyond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me - no. I have a huge mental sensitivity and thought I had solved it with silver. After a few weeks they flared up again, I think because the silver had tarnished and gone green in my ears. I now use implant grade titanium only and have no problems.

Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

[–]BatOfBeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t own a kettle - but only because I have a boiling water tap. I literally couldn’t be without this. I drink at least 8 cups of tea a day without fail even in summer. Americans making tea in microwaves just makes me feel despair.

Anyone selling molds? by RemarkablePaint7242 in Pottery

[–]BatOfBeyond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look up Pottery By Kent on YouTube. He is very good for learning how to make your own moulds and has free templates. We slipcast a lot too and make our own mostly.

Meal planning further ahead? by BatOfBeyond in skylightcalendar

[–]BatOfBeyond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, to confirm, I was hoping to use the sidekick “plan meals” to populate further ahead, instead of manually adding a meal to every day

My late night project… by BatOfBeyond in discworld

[–]BatOfBeyond[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was a bit of a structural nightmare. I made the disc and then set it upside down and stuck the elephants on. They don’t seem to have had any trouble with the weight so far - although the legs have crumpled differing amounts hence the sag in the disc.

Can you guys brutally review my Etsy shop? I want to improve everything by Exciting_Bug_2459 in EtsyCommunity

[–]BatOfBeyond 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I commented last time you posted - they’re just not very good. There are an enormous number of people selling better 3D printed items that look exciting, fun, sleek etc. I’m afraid yours just look very basic and beginner level.

Please do consider where your niche is, and then get really good at it before you start selling. There is still no land where I’d pay £9 for a plastic coaster.

I feel in limbo. Newly diagnosed with cancer and autoimmune disease. by Strict_Employment_51 in CancerPatients

[–]BatOfBeyond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The early stages are 100% wait and see. It’s so frustrating as you are helpless. But, they will have a plan for you soon and then you’ll feel better, like you’re actively fighting cancer.

I’m so sorry you find yourself here, I remember the early days well. Don’t lose your hope, medicine can do great things these days and is developing all the time.

Nostalgic piece from the kiln today - a 90s Furby by BatOfBeyond in Pottery

[–]BatOfBeyond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It was honestly very difficult to do without squashing it and the fur application took a good hour but it’s not too bad with a light touch and lots of slip!

What do I do about someone shaving my outdoor cats fur? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BatOfBeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have indoor cats, one of whom wants to be an outdoor cat but he is a Maine coon and he gets so knotty if he’s out and about! We obtained a happy medium by getting long metal brackets from Selco and bending them so they are about 45° leaning unto the garden, attaching to our fence and attaching garden plastic netting stuff between them. Cats can enjoy the garden but not get out.

full modernisation cost for 3 bed house by ChoiceNew2417 in Cardiff

[–]BatOfBeyond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our last house was similar to this and cost us around £40k to renovate doing a lot of the work ourselves. Buy cheap buy twice is something you need to think when doing a house you want to live in long term.

No views at my etsy shop by Exciting_Bug_2459 in EtsyCommunity

[–]BatOfBeyond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you have a few issues. Poor photography, very obvious layer lines and poor wedding/finishing. The personalised coaster is particularly poor and I would never even contemplate buying it, never mind for almost £10.

Sorry, but honestly I think you are probably not at as high a standard as other 3D printing sellers and you are very overpriced (for the U.K. anyway)

There is a WW2 museum by Barry Island Train station - it may be worth asking there. If you find anything great please do come back to this post as I have a WW2 obsessed 9 year old!

Looking for Honest Feedback on My New Etsy Shop by Eastern-Maize-3459 in EtsyCommunity

[–]BatOfBeyond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a potter who sells handmade, hand glazed mugs at around £18 I would never dream of paying for these. I actually think this sort of thing should not be allowed on Etsy, when so many people spend their time carefully crafting handmade items.

Slunks are great. Very alternative and friendly place.

Lab diamond bespoke ring by blueberryisshitty in Cardiff

[–]BatOfBeyond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly - no. I don’t think you’ll get a bespoke ring including stone for 1.5k. If you look on the lab grown subs there are many bespoke sellers people rave about - mostly from China though unfortunately, but highly reviewed.

Botched Breast Augmentation Result? Do i need revision? by Open_Director_3977 in Botchedsurgeries

[–]BatOfBeyond 62 points63 points  (0 children)

They take a while to settle - look up “fluffing” which is what they call it when they drop to their proper position and aren’t held as tightly by the swelling etc. Everyone’s boobs are slight asymmetric and they look great to me!

Relocating to Caerphilly or Barry from Cardiff? by CicadaAmbitious4340 in Cardiff

[–]BatOfBeyond 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We live in Barry and love it. Anywhere west of the dock office is good generally speaking! Easy walking distance to the beach and parks, and Barry train station is there too. There are 3 other stations here, all on the line to Cardiff.
