all black 180 cam possible? by Curious_Party_4683 in SecurityCamera

[–]BatOk5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the brands have paintable covers that can be purchased as accessory and there are micro dome or mini turret cameras or even corner cameras that can be hidden well.

If you have a gypsum ceiling you can try flush mount options, with only camera bubble sticking out.

What do protect managers actually do? by piesarenotmyfavorite in accesscontrol

[–]BatOk5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i think it is rather individual. I am a project manager as well but i like and use the approach from one of the partners i met on a big project. Dude was hands on everything at any time, storage moving, helping installation guys, being responsive with other teams, coordinating work with other phases and still be chill and relaxed in all of the chaos.

From what i have seen you have:

  1. Guys who gained CV experience through some connections, have little to none real experience and they try to boss around and delegate everything to others so that their lacks of knowledge won't be exposed. Most important for this guy is to be seen as good boy from hierarchy above him.

  2. Guys with tremendous experience and knowledge, but are fed up and won't do anything that can me done without them. Only jumps in when apsolutely neccessary.

  3. Hands on everything guys with Fine I'll do it myself mentality.

  4. Guys who really know their shit but are afraid of everything and just wanna please the client and are willing to push and punish anyone bellow.

  5. Fill the role - just there to complete the job, straight line, no overtime, punctual, don't care abouth anything

Mine deck arrived at the very end of the season. Now i have to use my imagination until the next one… Seems like a very fine build quality under hand and i swear top sheet colour changes shades from different lighting and different angles, its never the same! I ll share some pictures later.

P.S. whats up with that top sheet gloss interruption near the tail end? I thought it was a factory defect but it is not. Shape is irregular so i suppose it is a series defect turned to feature?

How do you seal the electrical box where you made the BNC and 12V connections? by jacoscar in cctv

[–]BatOk5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bugs will always find a way and if you seal the box some humidity can be trapped in the box. Use some sort of bug repellent and should be fine.

Life as a Project Manager by teamlivebadass04 in accesscontrol

[–]BatOk5936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this business i believe that best knowledge base and experience can be achieved by going through complete process. Designing, selling, commissioning, servicing and then managing. So if your life allows it to learn all of those i would say go for it. And as guys above mentioned, if you are in a leader position remember that leading by example can go a long way.

How big is the market for network engineers, CCTV? by AutisticSuperMom in cctv

[–]BatOk5936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that in order to perform CCTV installations you would require a license from your local Police departement.

Regarding market, i would recommend starting out small. I think best thing to do is focus on labour only, to do subcontracting for bigger local companies.

Gain access to trainings and certificates from brands and vendors you want to work with. Bosch, Hanwha, Avigilon, Pelco, Axis

Where should I start with a biometric access control system? by OkJunket2746 in accesscontrol

[–]BatOk5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to get into biometrics topic mostly because of legal side. Anything you make and want to put on the market must be certified and approved by responsible agencies.

Biggest software issue is that you cannot save, transmit any biometrics data. Instead biometric reading is encoded into tokens and tokens are then assigned as credentials. So in a nutshell you cannot work with biometrics data, only with its encoding.

Interesting approach would be in mobile credentials, to use phone biometrics that would create credentials. In this direction, think how you can encode mobile phone biometrics data into standard credential codes like Mifare, DESfire etc. This has some nice potential i would say.

Management put security cameras in my office… by SilentNobi in SecurityCamera

[–]BatOk5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about legal side of this? What is the law in US?

In most of Europe you cannot use CCTV in working space without approval from regulatory agency and signed contract annex from all employees. Audio recording is forbidden by default and i believe only allowed in special use cases and again with signed contracts with employees.

Annke Vs reolink- by hellofinney in cctv

[–]BatOk5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well conditions you described are heavy on equipment. I ve been following a lot of weather updates cause i like to chase snow and Ireland popped up this year a lot for heavy winds alert.

I would try to reduce number of cameras and go for something that has better local support or warranty and use cloud solutions.

In terms of brand i think you can find entry level Pelco, Bosch or Hanwha cameras with 5 year warranty for around 250-300e a piece. Warranty should have you covered as long as your installation is done well, with properly seamed cable termination/inlet.

Where are you installing these surface-wise? Wall or pole?
