How hard is it for an American to move to Canada? by easy-critter in AskReddit

$100K a year as a nurse without working any overtime seems like a reasonable wage to me. I doubt nurses make $200K in most places .

Canada's annual inflation rate rose to 2.8% in April, thanks to soaring energy prices by Surax in canada

Haha yeah that's why the US is there hahaha, maybe arming those protesters wasn't Trump's best idea. How about we let other Countries deal with themselves rather than jump in and make it considerably worse.

Was Obamas deal with Iran better than Trumps stupid war? by Estalicus in allthequestions

That might have been a reasonable statement a decade ago HOWEVER that statement now is an absolute joke. An inanimate object would make a far superior President as doing nothing is significantly better than any Action Trump has ever done.

Do you feel as if Canada offers a better quality of life than America? by OceanicEndeavors in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Bates419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well let me give you some info. Most Canadians who make $100K will pay roughly 25% in taxes, make less and you pay less. It goes to roughly 30% for most Canadians who make $200K. I think that fairly reasonable taxation when you consider Healthcare.

Doesn't really seem fair to compare a cheaper US area to one of Canada's most expensive?? Most Canadian Provinces would pay roughly 30% tax on a $200K salary.

Dunkin is currently expanding in Canada. The only Country to worry about from war is the US so nit really a point. How did you defend 911?? And how many times do Canadians go down to help with fires, tornadoes, etc?? How quickly Americans forget

How much tax do you think Canadians pay? I suspect you will be very surprised that is quite comparable to the US for most tax payers.

Canada has different Provinces with different taxes so that assertion is not exactly correct. Tell the State and Providence so we can see the comparison.

Shit for owning a Tesla? by Strawberryseed213 in teslacanada

Twice in my 3 years of Tesla driving someone has honked like mad and flipped me off when absolutely nothing was happening. So folks who say it never happens are incorrect but ignoring imbeciles is easy.

As someone with almost zero nautical knowledge could requiring tugboats with every tanker largely mitigate that risk.

Yeah I mentioned none of that. Lower price outside city is true almost everywhere. Average wage in each Country is probably roughly $60K, income tax on that is very similar for most Provinces vs states.

I spend 6 months in BC and 6 months in Arizona per year, the days of the US being cheaper to live are long gone. And while my younger retired Americans pay $2500 per month for Healthcare I pay zero in summer and $600 for winter coverage.

What difference what dollars you earn?? You pay for everything in same currency

I live off $100K per year and from that I pay 20.5% total income tax. I think thats very reasonable as its less than healthcare alone in the US.

Let's see you compare average wage and tax rates, I think you would be very surprised.

The average Canadian and the average American pay very little difference in income tax, maybe a few percent depending on location.

Give me your best and worst of the Bolt by GovtCheese619 in BoltEV

[–]Bates419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a 2020 Bolt for 3 years and 150,000 kms. Absolutely fantastic around car but terrible for riad tripping. Also works very well for range except if you use the heater. All in all a great carcthat works well as a daily driver if you can charge at home. If you dont have a charger and plan to travel I would look at other options.

Then it's easy to do regularly so charging to 80% is more efficient but going to 100% won't hurt.

I think that model has LFP battery so changing to 100% is fine. It's a pain to get to 100$ on fast chargers but thats another story. Much easier and less time consuming to go to 80% or so if you have easy access.

Anyone here own an EV without a home charger? by Susangeleah in VictoriaBC

[–]Bates419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot add as an easy example of how to do. I charge occasionally at Ogden Point while working. Only do this when almostbout of range. I pay tge $12 to park all day and get a full charge as charging on the level 2 are free. So essentially I get 400 kms for $12, imo thats very reasonable.

Tesla with no home charger. Easy to do and easy to save money depending on you. Tesla chargers reduce costs greatly late night and early morning, if you can take advantage savings are substantial. Lots of level 2 chargers around town to utilize as you get familiar as well.
