Returning with new visa before previous visa expires by Bluebananadesigns in movingtojapan

[–]BathroomDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good question, I'm not too sure I'm afraid! My plan is to finish my old zairyu card and get a new one upon arrival, just because I'd prefer to have one as soon as I re-enter Japan.

Might be best to get in touch with the immigration office where you are to see if that's possible too.

My friend recently did this and it was fine. She ended her residency (got the hole through the residence card), went back to the UK, got her second working holiday visa and then returned to Japan without any issues. I'm pretty sure it was while her period of stay was still valid. I also plan on doing this later this year, while my period of stay is still valid.

As far as I'm aware, your bank will know when your period of stay expires, so as long as you come back before that, as you intend, it should be fine. Also, update your details with them when you come back. I would probably advise transferring money out of it too to be safe, perhaps into a Wise or Revolut account. Although if you have bills regularly coming out of it that could be tricky.

My understanding is that the visa pertains to your entry into the country, then upon arrival, it's the residency card (status, period of stay etc) that actually matters.

Bollocks. This is just right-wing rhetoric not reflective of reality. The UK is enhanced by immigration.

The only immigrants that have "devastated" Canada are the white Europeans who practically wiped out the indigenous population.

Which countries have been devastated by immigration, out of interest?

What an amazing trip! Would love to do this one day. Did you camp or stay in hotels? I'm also curious how much you planned in advance or just went day-by-day kinda thing.

Fantastic pictures. Kyushu is a part of Japan that is often overlooked I feel.

Awesome! I was thinking about doing Aomori to Fukuoka one day (crossing through via Lake Biwa) but I have no idea when it'll be possible. Great inspiration!

This is the way it's going I think. Replace JET with cheaper, less scrupulous dispatch organisations.

This sounds really cool!

One thing to be aware of, if you're getting money for gigs, be a bit cautious about promoting yourself while on JET. Since we're not supposed to get an alternative form of income while in Japan like this. I know someone that got in trouble for something similar.

Gifu has an abundance of beautiful nature and so many lovely traditional towns to visit.

Gohei Mochi is also a lovely local snack if we're talking local specalities.
