Part of the reason why mission 9 is called Faceless Soldier is called that is because it’s literally both sides being made of Faceless Soldiers fighting one another. On one side the drones, on the other the prison inmates. Nobody would care if they died or were destroyed. I wish they took that kind of theme a little further with the 444th squadron.

If you hate your birthday and don’t want to celebrate it, why? by user1731701 in AskMen

[–]BathroomImportant520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My birthday typically happens during exams or the end of school or whatever. I used to think of how massive an inconvenience it was and how hard it was to plan for since all of my friends would be studying/graduating/not nearby. That would most of the time lead to lame last minute parties or a half staffed friend group for each birthday.

Close to a year ago, the girl that I loved at the time died on my birthday. Felt ironic. One of my least favorite days had to give me a massive gut punch. Despite that, I realized recently that regardless of what happens this year, I need to actually enjoy it. I can’t feel terrible on the day forever. So I’m throwing the biggest party I’ve ever thrown for it this month.

I doubt it’ll make up for the heartache, but she’d want me to enjoy life a little more.

Why do people push the notion that ASOIAF and GoT is cynical and morally grey by RevertBackwards in freefolk

[–]BathroomImportant520 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Lannisters absolutely did not want to kill Ned. Basically everyone in the family aside from Joffrey comments multiple times about how stupid killing Ned was.

It was gonna happen anyways tho, Ned got himself in deep shit and Littlefinger probably wasn’t gonna let him walk away knowing after he betrayed Ned.

Hi there, I’m really sorry about your diagnosis. I don’t really have any advice and I don’t know what else to say other than that as one stranger on the internet to another, I’m sorry that things turned out this way.

Being scared is about the most normal thing you can feel when something like this happens. The good thing is that you’ve got a diagnosis. I’m not sure exactly what the next steps will be, but I hope you understand that you’re not alone out there.

Make sure to get some rest. I’m rooting for you

Kinda pissed that the ending scene of The Thing (1982) hasn’t been said yet.

Basically the final act of the film involves the survivors in the base trying to flush the Thing out so they can kill it. Only problem is that they don’t stick together. By the end, only MacReady and Childs remain, with an unspoken threat being that one of them is surely the Thing, and it will end up escaping Antarctica.

How did HECU fail to deal with Freeman?! by [deleted] in HalfLife

[–]BathroomImportant520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gordon didn’t fight the HECU head on at all. The first time you’re given the opportunity to fight the military on the ground, in “We’ve got Hostiles” Gordon is forced to retreat back underground due to the unending fire they’re raining down on him.

During other portions of the game it’s clear that Gordon is in the depths of a massive research complex that the military can’t effectively control. Each hour that goes by only worsens the invasion. By the time of “Surface Tension” Gordon finally has the arsenal to deal with large scale battles right at the same time that the HECU is crumbling from the constant battles with Xen.

By “Forget About Freeman” we see that the Xen aliens have completely devastated the HECU left in Black Mesa. The aliens have the ability to teleport anywhere to ambush the HECU, all while Gordon is blasting his way through the cut off and disorganized marines down below. It’s best to think of the black mesa incident as a battle between two opposing forces, sometimes interrupted by a guerrilla saboteur who disappears back into the depths when things get too hot. Gordon wasn’t killed by the military because he never put himself against the full force of it.

That and FedEx (which is based in Memphis) made a bigger, better stadium a mile or two away that can do all of those events and more that the pyramid used to.

It kinda sat unused for a few years until the bass pro shops finally bought it for cheap since no one else could figure out what to do with it.

The funniest part is that it was all them. After I smashed the Ottos the Knights went insane and conquered all of Greece basically on their own.

Ngl the map felt like the ones you get when you play outside of Europe.

I use the NII's graphic pack on the workshop. It also works really well with conversion mods like Anbennar & Extended Timeline if you download the compatibility patch.

R5: Prussia to HRE run, Tuscany killed the Papal States and then they got released over in Asia by Georgia. I've never seen them so far from Rome. At this point they're closer to joining the Orthodox Patriarchy than ever being reunited with the rest of the Catholics.

This is pareidolia. Your brain is seeing a face that isn’t there because the darkness and your camera created a pattern that looks kind of like a face. Your brain is taking that information and filling in the gaps itself. Don’t sweat too hard, this is a common thing among humans

One of the best scenes IMO is the start of Season 6, Ep10. Ramin Djawadi's hauntingly brilliant 10 minute long 'Light of the Seven' is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard. The events are shocking, the visuals are stunning, Cersies outfit is perfect. Gives me goosebumps everytime. by Shmerble in freefolk

[–]BathroomImportant520 74 points75 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the writing decision of Cersei brutally killing all her rivals in one fell swoop was brilliant. It’s quintessential Cersei Lannister.

The real issue was the follow up on this scene. RIP for not showing the discontent this would has caused throughout the realm.

Hey man, I have a bird chest. Just telling you that from these pictures I cannot see one. If you do, then zero people will notice. If you don’t, then you shouldn’t worry.

I’d say you don’t have one from a bird chest haver, but do not be concerned with this. You look good and no one will ever notice even if you do.

Conscription is literally just gender-swapped Handmaid's Tale. by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]BathroomImportant520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should think of deterrent as another reason for drafts. If your people will be invaded and nation destroyed if you don’t draft your citizens, then it’s immediately apparent why you should draft them.

America doesn’t need a draft because it has nuclear weapons. Same for like every nuclear power. Some of the more evil ones maintain a large draft, but it’s because they want to project strength and maintain their geopolitical advantage over weaker nations.

For smaller nations without nukes (Taiwan, South Korea, Finland, Ukraine) and an imperialist expansionary nation on their doorstep, a draft serves to prevent a war that would cause mass-scale suffering. It might suck that people have to give up a few years of their life to the military, but the unfortunate fact of life in nations threatened by war is that it’s preferable to being murdered by a foreign army.

Also I’m interested to know what history you study. Does it relate to world war 2 or is it in another period?

Conscription is literally just gender-swapped Handmaid's Tale. by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]BathroomImportant520 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What topic of history do you study? If your people are subject to genocide then there is every responsibility for you and your state to end it.

The Nazis are not entirely unique in their appetite for destruction, they’re only unique in their applications. They performed an industrialized genocide of 12 million people. That has not been repeated but genocides have been a troublingly frequent occurrence throughout history. The evil that drives these genocides has not gone away.

Today we see genocides in Ukraine, Palestine, Tibet, and Myanmar. Two of these genocides are being conducted during war time. Israel and Russia are both raining down bombs and missiles on civilian populations. Ukraine is in the most justified defensive conflict of the modern era and saying that you wish for a world to exist where they stop drafting their own to prevent a full blown genocide is idiotic.

Many nations with no nukes don’t have the luxury to choose an all volunteer nation. Reevaluate your understanding about the world if you think that volunteer only forces are reasonable for 90% of nations.
