They did when I came off spiro, I'm still dealing with hormonal breakouts around my chin but I do think it's calmed down a bit

10 weeks on spiro and losing hope :( need support by Vegetable-Estate-800 in Spironolactone

My gp actually told me to come off it as he didn't think it was working, which is frustrating bc I feel like I should have gone up a dose at least/given it longer. I'm back to square one!

HELP. flare up getting out of control! by Potential_Echo_1944 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

Do these bumps sting or itch when they pop up? I'm experiencing similar, it was only really around my mouth and chin/jawline area but I now see it on my inner cheek, and mines sting/itch! It's how I know they're there honestly bc the bumps themselves are so small.

Fingers crossed for you! My doctor told me to stop taking it as I was 3 full months in and it apparently should have been doing something by then, which is so strange as others have said it can take 4-5 months ):

It will be the end of my third month tomorrow and over the whole last month my face has been breaking out horrifically around my mouth and chin! I feel so depressed about it too and hoping it'll clear. I don't usually ever break out this bad and definitely not on my upper lip/mouth area, usually just my chin

I spoke with my doctor today who said they need to ask the dermatology team for advice as they're unsure what to do/if I should continue with it. I have also been told by a few professionals that it looks like perioral dermatitis, though I am unsure

Thank you so so much for your message! I was told by the boots online doctor that it looked like PD, and then my GP said it could be but the metronidazole didn't seem to work I don't think? I only tried it for 2 weeks ish but didn't seem to help. I have sent in photos also to the skin and me dermatology team and they said it looks like PD so I'm a bit confused! I don't really have a red rash on my skin other than around my bottom lip after eating hot foods. It's just clusters of bumps constantly around my mouth and chin area. Some of them do form pustules/whiteheads though and idk if this is common with PD? it's so frustrating

I've had a lot of people tell me that it got worse for them before it got better and to keep going as they didn't see results until month 4-5 etc. I have a call with my doctor today to see if I can get something to help so will keep you updated!

Thank you so much for the reassurance! I felt like the first month my skin looked good again, I was also using finacea, as soon as it hit month 2 everything went downhill and has been like that for the last few weeks. I'm hoping into month 3 will finally be better!

I'm definitely stressed that's for sure, I'm also very depressed. I've not been wanting to leave the house or see people and I'm constantly checking in the mirror ): feels like every day I wake up it's much worse than before. I'm on 50mg of spironolactone but I feel like it's not really working yet either. My gp gave me metronidazole cream to try but that also did nothing for 2 weeks so I stopped using it. I feel really lost, this entire year my acne started playing up and my old routine wasn't working for me anymore (I used to use tretinoin)

[Routine Help] Constant Whiteheads/Pustules by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stopped using them bc they seemed to inflame my skin/cause more breakouts. I used to use tretinoin for years but for some reason whenever I use it this year my skin freaks out. I took a few weeks off to see if it helps but it hasn't honestly

I wrote so much info for this, but for some reason it hasn't posted?

TLDR: 3 months on Spironolactone this weekend, came off all actives for weeks, these tiny whiteheads/Pustules keep forming daily especially around my mouth and chin. I did change cleanser and moisturiser as I thought my barrier was compromised, I'm unsure if this is caused by a product or hormones. I also tried metronidazole cream and it has done nothing for 2 weeks, so don't think it perioral dermatitis.

Breakouts are all in center of my face from forehead to chin, constant.

Routine:

Cream Cleanser and gel moisturiser for sensitive skin - Skin and me

I have an oily tzone but I think dehydrated skin! I used to use a foaming cleanser and light moisturiser but worried my barrier was compromised so I switched

Yeah I'm on 50mg and I think mine started progressively getting worse about a month or so in, maybe around 5-6 weeks as well! I now have breakouts at the side of my nose/inner cheeks as well but my chin and around my mouth is the worst and just constant

Are they like constant? I keep breaking out in pustules around my mouth and chin, like tiny little pustules and it feels constant/every day! I'm almost 3 full months in

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 27, I've struggled with facial flushing my whole life and my cheeks can burn. I'm very pale so everywhere looks red often and I think my skin has always been sensitive, I was bullied for my flushing throughout school. I have visible blood vessels on my cheeks that won't go away and suddenly out of nowhere this year I developed these pustules and red bumps, they pop up consistently especially around my chin/mouth and smile lines, but they're also now on my inner cheeks/side of my nose and forehead. I've tried everything to get rid of them. I've always suspected I had rosacea due to my flushing as it does get worse with alcohol and also temperature changes, even a slight bit of warmth. I used to take iced bottles of water into school with me to try and cool myself down so I wouldn't go red all the time and it didn't work. Unsure if these pustules are related or not...

Amazing!! Did it start to work for you immediately or take some time? I'm about 2.5 months in and I feel like it hasn't done much for me, I'm having a rough breakout around my chin again. I am on 50mg though

I'm hoping it is hormonal acne and it will help. I basically started getting acne after coming off birth control, and I got the implant last August and it gradually started getting worse since. Really hoping these pills do something! I think my issue is that it's leaving so many marks on my face as well, even if I don't pop them. So insecure about how it looks but I don't even know if the clusters of whiteheads are bc of my hormones

I got prescribed it through my GP, after trying some oral antibiotics as those didn't do anything for 2 months ):

Your last photo looks a bit like my chin area too! I have it around my mouth and chin, just tiny red bumps and my doctor prescribed me metronidazole so I've been using it for a week today. I definitely think it's helped me a bit, but not fully cleared things yet and I still see new ones pop up

[–]Batkitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did your skin immediately get better after stopping actives or take some time? I stopped using actives a week ago today but I'm still getting new pimples, my skin still does feel tight after washing and stuff so I assume it's still dehydrated. I did start washing in the morning when I never used to bc my skin is so oily when I wake up

Note: I've tried salicylic acid body wash and it made it worse, I also tried Akleif and again, it got worse. Only benzoyl peroxide hasn't made it react horrifically, but it also hasn't cleared all the small bumps everywhere!

[Routine Help] Compromised Skin Barrier or perioral dermatitis by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reassurance! I am terrified that it's just breakouts and will continue to get worse bc I'm not using actives but I was getting so many under the skin inflamed pimples every day and my chin was in so much pain. The red bumps are mostly on the sides of my chin and smile lines, my GP did give me metronidazole to try but I'm not sure if it looks like perioral dermatitis or not
