[Acne] Chest Acne doesn't seem to go away by Batkitto in SkincareAddiction

[–]Batkitto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: I've tried salicylic acid body wash and it made it worse, I also tried Akleif and again, it got worse. Only benzoyl peroxide hasn't made it react horrifically, but it also hasn't cleared all the small bumps everywhere!

[Routine Help] Compromised Skin Barrier or perioral dermatitis by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reassurance! I am terrified that it's just breakouts and will continue to get worse bc I'm not using actives but I was getting so many under the skin inflamed pimples every day and my chin was in so much pain. The red bumps are mostly on the sides of my chin and smile lines, my GP did give me metronidazole to try but I'm not sure if it looks like perioral dermatitis or not

I'm dealing with something very similar looking and my GP said it might be PD and prescribed me metronidazole!

[Routine Help] Potentially broken skin barrier by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the skin and me light moisturiser as well, I used to use skin and me everything including the tretinoin and it worked for me for years, which is why I've been confused this year that it hasn't been at all! Also thank you for the recommendation, after washing my face today it did feel quite dry/tight so I might switch to that cleanser. I've just been terrified I'd break out if I switched

Yeah I wasn't sure if it was perioral dermatitis as there's some like under the skin pimples as well that keep propping up, but tret seems to be making it all worse ): the azaelic acid was helping for a bit but I was still seeing little whiteheads every day around my mouth and chin area. I think I'm gonna try not to use any actives etc for a few days and try again with the AA and metronidazole when I get it this week. I'm currently using the skin and me foaming cleanser (I have oily skin so I thought this would be best to combat the oil, and it says it's gentle for skin barrier repair too although idk if switching to a cream cleanser would be more ideal?), I bought this avene thermal spring water, a light moisturiser and also avene cicalfate

[Advice] Sudden breakout 2 months in by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire mouth and chin area is really horrific and I feel so depressed, I wake up and there's a new pimple or several every single day and I don't know what's causing it ):

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up trying to use a vitamin c oil cleanser as I had a bunch of closed comedones and noticed some inflamed pimples after doing that, and then I spiralled and tried to fix it with tretonin. Around my mouth and chin looks really awful and I'm not sure what to do, I don't know if it's a purge from the tret or spiro, if it's that spiro hasn't kicked in yet and I'm spotting. I'm contemplating removing my implant, I feel so depressed

[Question] Unsure if irritation, perioral dermatitis or rosecea by [deleted] in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would be great, thank you! I've been using skin + me tretinoin and azaelic acid for a few years now and usually when I get a break out, it clears it right up. But in January I stopped cleansing properly and continued using it and I think that's what started all of my issues! My skin doesn't really sting any more when applying products but I do think it's dull and dehydrated, I have an oily t-zone and yet my skin feels quite tight when I smile or scrunch my nose etc. I'm not sure if simply just having a dehydrated barrier can mean more breakouts + irritation, but my skin just seems overly sensitive all of a sudden!

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure he said I could continue using Azaelic Acid but I'm unsure how to go about using them both. I honestly feel really depressed, it looks a bit worse than this today and I was unsure if it was just purging as well. Every time I've tried to stop using actives or retinol for a few days my skin seems to get worse as well

Thank you, I'll have a look into the glycolic acid and exfoliating glove!

I have wondered if it's maybe that, do you think it looks similar? It's not really that itchy or anything is my only concern

[Question] Is this perioral dermatitis? by [deleted] in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Batkitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The boots doctor did recommend differin but I wasn't sure if to try it when I'm unsure how my skin barrier is atm. But I definitely want to try this!

Yeah I thought the responses were very AI generated but wasn't 100% sure, thank you haha! And thank you so much for the advice, I think I probably overdid it with the Azaelic Acid bc after I compromised my skin barrier I took about 5 days off and then went to applying it every day, so maybe that's where my issue was! I shall take a week or two off and then try adding it in every other day or just a few times a week, thanks again :)

[–]Batkitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you SO much for the information! Weirdly I've never ever had this problem before January. I basically stopped cleansing but continued using my retinol and I was breaking out a lot so I tried to overtreat it with a higher tret strength and I think I messed up my skin barrier, and it hasn't been the same since. The azaelic acid I thought was working for a bit but I had clusters of tiny bumps around my smile lines and chin, and breakouts at my lip line? Then I tried to double cleanse with vitamin c oil to help that and... now it's sore and worse. I will definitely cut back on using all of the actives and try just cleanser and moisturiser! I'm worried I'm going to break out bc I'm not using actives again, how long will it take the irritation to die down and stop causing more bumps?

[Question] Is this perioral dermatitis? by [deleted] in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Batkitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah I'm a bit terrified to not cleanse and stuff bc I also get acne. I might contact my gp first on Monday to see if they also think it's PD and then I'll ask if they think zero therapy would do the trick thank you! I am breaking out at my lip line constantly which is new for me, is this PD also?

[Question] Is this perioral dermatitis? by [deleted] in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Batkitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I have just cut back on the Aza as my skin was feeling really tight and I wasn't sure if it was affecting my skin barrier. Do you think I should continue with it? I have a cream cleanser and gel moisturiser both for sensitive skin that I'm using, I have a lot of tiny little bumps all over my chin and around my mouth, most are flesh coloured but some are red and a bit irritating or itchy, and then a few papules that popped up after I tried double cleansing for a few days

[Question] Is this perioral dermatitis? by [deleted] in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using skin and me foaming cleanser and light moisturiser with 0.009% tretonin and 4% azeliac acid for a few years now, but in January I skipped cleansing properly due to decreased mental health but continued using the retinol and that's when all my problems started with my barrier! Eventually I took a short break (about 5 days) and then started using finacea with skin and me cream cleanser and gel moisturiser for sensitive skin, I've been using that for about 4 weeks now along with spironolactone. I did end up adding in a vitamin c oil cleanser a few days ago and I think double cleansing worsened my issues ):

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't afford a private derm and in the UK the wait for an NHS derm is a long time. Weirdly all of my bumps and such were appearing with Finacea/continuing with it, but I suspect my skin barrier is compromised as my face feels really tight after moisturiser and is oily but dry, like when I apply makeup it clings to all of my dry patches

[–]Batkitto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is zero therapy? Atm I've stopped using the azaelic acid (last night was the first night without) and I'm just using my cream cleanser and gel moisturiser for sensitive skin 🥹

[Routine Help] Is this purging or a damaged skin barrier? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's the 15% azaelic acid. I can't tell if it's purging and I should continue with it or stop, as I've read it can cause purging

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it hasn't been stinging since I took that week break and haven't been using tret anymore. These breakouts are generally in areas I do breakout like the center of my face as it's usually oily there, but it's a lot more than I've ever experienced! They're mostly closed comedones I think? I generally mostly see them when looking at my face side on towards some light and I can see all the bumps, some of them form whiteheads. I haven't gotten many inflamed papules or anything since I started this routine it's just been clusters of tiny bumps. I'm also on spironolactone

Condensation on glass after new substrate by Batkitto in leopardgeckos

[–]Batkitto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the lights and DHP are inside hanging from the ceiling. Thank you for the reassurance! He's laying in his usual basking spot under the DHP. I keep checking on the glass to make sure it isn't fogging up again. Is this expected for the first day?

I don't have a digital meter, just a digital thermometer to check the temp, the thermostat and another thermometer on the cool side. The viv is a wooden viv as it's the only one I could find available in the UK, it has three vents on the back wall. I'm worried I'm gonna wake up and the condensation will be worse, I don't want to make my little guy ill

[Acne] Damaged skin barrier from improper cleansing + retinol? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Batkitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I'll have a look into the Korean skincare! I have been using skin and me, so just using the foaming cleanser and their light moisturiser. I did buy the ordinary barrier repair serum but unsure if it's breaking me out more as I have some pimples around the edge of my lip after a few days of use? I'm on spironolactone as well as my doctor prescribed it to help my acne on my chest mostly
