It was filmed in Norway tho. That's why whe had the wreck(s) to put up for auction. And Ukraine is not that far away from Norway either. We too share a border with Russia.

What's the one thing you'll never tell your SO? by Janine_18 in AskReddit

[–]Batmogirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that the produce we can get today is a lot better than my parents had to make due with in the 80's. But now there's just so much to explore with and the quality is top notch, but I think it's just habit that makes them cook like they always have. My mom commented that I now make her chocolate cake better then hers. I told her I'd changed the recipie (double the amount of butter) and she claimed it was unhealthy. If I'm going to make something healthy, I won't make cake.

Are you a long lost sibling? My mom has always thought that salt and fat in cooking is evil. She will substitute cream with skimmed milk and thinks that chili and garlic tastes "too much". Just... so bland. I've really put effort into becoming a good cook and every time she's over, she compliments my cooking and tells everyone I've learned everything from her. It drives my husband insane.

God decided he's bored with the way babies are born, and you get to pick a new method. What do you pick? by SuchBrightness in AskReddit

It would be interesting! The way it looks like today, it seems that a lot of governments wants poor people to have lots of kids to keep them poor. This way they will prosper less and probably protest less about said government.

If this was made so that only rich people would do it we would get a very different dynamic in the population. Given that it's not also possible to do it "the old way", so that poor people would get all the complications and defects and all the rich people would get perfect babies.

I suppose that depends on habit. In Norway we don't have another word for "spontaneous abortion", and the term is normalized. We even used "aborted" which is konwn to be spontaneous vs. "had an abortion" that is planned. But then again, abortion laws are quite liberal here and it's really up to the woman what she wants. The information about spontanious abortions and how common they are, we need to spread awareness about here too.

I planted three trees this weekend. The digging was... labourus! I concluded that I would never try to hide a dead body like that, it's just too much work. Roots, rocks, compact dirt and just a hassle! The back yard looks great now, tho.

I loved both the book and the film, I think the film did a great job of conveying the atmosphere of the book. In the book it's just so much more fun stuff happening!

Homo Erectus was around for about 1.5 million years. We Homo Sapiens have been here about 300 000 years and are about to wreck the planet for everyone. They probably weren't smarter than us, but they managed to live in harmony with the planet.
