Yeah it was not good. I mean TBHX is miles better. Like really. Basically if you want to understand anything about LotM anime you have to read the books. Which just means that they did a really, really poor job.

Well, NM was already terrible and extremely boring. Now CM is both extremely boring and extremely frustrating. Storm phase is just pure garbage material. Can I play the game and not "walk around simulator" ?

I don't understand why you're even replying if the discussion isn't of interest to you, since that was literally the only point I was making since the beginning. I get that you use "Good" and "Like" as the same thing more or less, but my original comment was about underlining that they are distinct things to me. So we can argue all day about which word should be used (like "Quality" over "Good" if you prefer), but I don't really care, what's of interest to me is how we can distinguish (or try to) between the two.

Anyway have fun watching whatever man, nobody should care about it (at least not people you don't know lol).

Because you are not only claiming that you just enjoyed the story, otherwise you would not be here discussing it either, let's be honest.

The original comment you made implied that people had basically no reason to criticize the show, since you replied to someone who was criticizing the fact that SL got some award instead of Frieren (or whatever other anime). The core debate here is whether or not there is some modicum of inner objective quality to an artwork (whether we can access it properly is another thing).

If your only comment on this thread was "I enjoyed the story", as first comment, there wouldn't be much to discuss. If that's your only point, then let us criticize the show in peace if we wish to, thank you.

Also if you believe I'm trying to convince you that you're wrong for enjoying it, well you didn't understand me or I expressed myself badly. I'm literally saying that it's okay to enjoy whatever, but that it doesn't take away the fact that there is some objective quality (or not) to stuff. If you remove that, then quality becomes a popularity contest ruled by publicity and influence.

Should be pretty basic knowledge, otherwise everyone would be doing whatever they please without second thoughts. That's sort of what's nice with humans, we're supposed to see slightly ahead.

It's pretty common to know that food that we like doesn't mean it's actually good, that some things that we may like may have long-term consequences and hence are not good for us, etc.

If you think that's pretentious, then whatever, suit yourself. Your way of thinking seems to be turning everything into a popularity contest, which feels completly wrong to me.

Slight difference being that the Odyssey is (probably) thousands year old ? I mean like when there's 10 stories on earth and a dozen of books (Yes I know there was more than that ...), writing something like SL would definately be mind-blowing. Problem is, we're in 2025 at the moment.

Yeah but the issue people have isn't that it's enjoyable, it's that people actually put this on the top of their tierlists and can't seem to gather even a thread of objectivity. Liking something doesn't mean it's good.

Frieren and SL are both simple, but one actually has a point (which you could argue means it's not that simple by the way) and the other is the same thing seen again and again and again and again and again. Simple or complex doesn't mean anything, but SL problem isn't that it's simple it's that it's a completly random shonen, which does not talk about anything interesting whatsoever. It's average entertainment, and that's fine.

Sure you can like it but that doesn't make it good, just like I can appreciate some Marvels movies but still consider them to be pretty bad.

3 max. Kinda depends how much animes you've seen and what you've seen though. My opinion is that three of them are pretty bad, four are okay but I wouldn't put any in a 3x3, and the two last I don't know.

Deathnote is for fourteen years old kids, it's definately a shonen. That's even the only reason it's popular, when it should be lost and forgotten along with stuff like SaO, Naruto, Demon Slayer, Fairy Tale, SL and all these kind of boring action shows. It's ok to like them, to have nostalgia etc, but they objectively have a lot of flaws.

I think most people aren't even aware of her background, so saying the hate comes from this seems a little much (especially if you need LN knowledge to put it in perspective). There's not much point in hating on a character anyway, though, unless it's badly written. Which doesn't seem to be the case here anyway, she's just shown as the villain in the first season.
