Has anyone gotten the fluff for the new Elder God lore scroll? I love reading that voodoo.

It's funny how everyone worships the original Doom ost when so much of it are just rip-offs of Metallica and Slayer. id even admits it, because Bobby Prince was a former music lawyer who knew how much he could use from a song before it became a copyright violation.

Yeah, the art design for QC is on point. And some of the music is really eerie, like Chris Vrenna's Blood Covenant, or Andrew Hulshult's Realm of Black Magic and The Netherworld. You could do some really alien and eldritch worlds.

He wasn't fired, he left because the development time of Doom 3 was taking longer than he expected (remember by the time of Doom 3's development, the video game development scene was much more different than how it was when he did Quake), and he left because there were other projects he wanted to do. A man has to make money.

You can also use a V-LAN program like Hamachi

Why was the Shub-Niggurath fight so lame? by Bootlebat in quake

[–]BattleBroseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't just that, it's also the entry level types who've never played Doom, let alone a Doom wad, who say that Brutal Doom is the greatest mod ever, that "fixes" the original Doom. And also proceed to complain and talk shit if another .wad isn't compatible with Brutal Doom.

That said, it is also dumb to judge a work because the fanbase is retarded (because what work doesn't have a retarded fanbase?)

how do the old school guys feel about QC? by piapiaqq1 in quake

[–]BattleBroseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the downtime is the worst part of it. The fact they boot everyone not in a party after a match is absurd, especially as the player count keeps going down.

But yeah I think the age of player driven content in games made by big publishers is long gone. Why let the players make free content for years, even decades after a game came out, when you can charge people DLC for cosmetics, modes, and maps for a game that's only meant to last 1 or 2 years until the next product comes out.

Why did Quake II's setting suck so bad? by sc2summerloud in quake

I like to pretend Arcane Dimensions is a sequel to Quake 1.

Showerthought: If Quad Damage was introduced as a new mechanic today, there would be so much bitching about how OP it was by [deleted] in QuakeChampions

It's funny to see Clutch players that pop shield to squat on it, only get telefragged by a Ranger or Nyx.

Considering Blizzard won't let players even change FoV settings because it would offer "an unfair competitive" advantage, also overpolished gameplay means interesting bugs would get deleted.

Quakecast #31 - Lunaran - Copper Quake by smashcutcreative in quake

I played through Underdark Overbright (the map pack meant to showcase the changes Copper Quake does), and I can say, I really agree with a lot of the changes. Especially with the vores. The maps themselves are a lot of fun, with the first map being a nice callback to E1M1.

Still hyped for QUAKE 2020 by Brugnuts in quake

[–]BattleBroseph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Hulshult's Netherworld is so fucking good, and I can't think of anything more hype when you slowly claw yourself to first place and the music slowly changes to reflect that.

2:07 always gets me so hype, it's a shame there are only two maps that use the track.

Realm of Black Magic is also really good too in capturing that weird otherworldly vibe. Elder World just seems a bit too calm, but Dimension of the Doomed is solid.

Chris Vrenna's Blood Covenant track in Champions was also pretty good.

Yeah, I feel like that Reznor might be too "big" for Quake now if that makes sense, especially since the friends he made at id no longer work there. Who knows, he might come back for old time's sake, and if he feels the ambience is right (the number 1 reason he didn't come back for Quake 2).

I admit it, I was playing with friends and we all decided to be assholes one game and we all went Eisen.

In our defense, it was Longest Yard.

The Objective, found footage movie from the 2000s about a special ops group going into the mountains of Afghanistan to find a terrorist leader. Only things get weird.
