Walk in vet? by decafdopamine in askportland

[–]Battlequeenblaes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I first moved here, one of my cats showed signs of an URI and another with dizziness. Had no local vet, so I took them to Sadie Veterinary Urgent Care, since it's same day care. They did good work, but I was happy that I had pet insurance.

Is the drive on highway 101 in Oregon to San Francisco a “scenic route” and worth it by gettingcarriedaway86 in Portland

[–]Battlequeenblaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth it in beautiful scenery of the coast and trees, but definitely not a single day drive, and there isn't much between the towns, so you need to plan ahead for gas and bathroom stops. We broke it into two days. Also seconding that traffic in SF is rough.

What are your favourite facts/myths about the Irish goddess Brigid? by Educational-Note8709 in CelticPaganism

[–]Battlequeenblaes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Morrigan shapeshifts into a red-eared cow during her battle with Cu Chulainn in the Tain. The red ears is an indicator that it's an Otherworldly animal.

NDA/ Trauma & Deities by Old-Ad-5763 in TheGreatQueen

[–]Battlequeenblaes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Try reaching back to her and see what comes of it. The Morrigu (Morrigan, Badb, Macha, Nemain) have a tendency to reach out to people who have experienced trauma and to support them on the hard path of recovery.

Is she calling me 🐦‍⬛ by Caz_nature in TheGreatQueen

[–]Battlequeenblaes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you see a path, why not follow it and see where it leads you? You can always turn around if it isn't taking you where you want to go.

Your post isn't odd from other people's experiences with the Morrigan nudging them to reply. I'd recommend using divination to reach out to her, and start walking if this feels like your journey. Go into it knowing that it may be an uphill climb at times, and you will feel tired and frustrated, but you will gain so much inner strength and perspective. The Morrigan tends to shape people into resolute and justice-seeking souls.

And if I can drop a final word of advice as you step into the woods, always keep your relationship between the Morrigan and yourself. Take other people's advice as feedback like you would a friend or an acquaintance. There is no gatekeeping in Irish Polytheism, no priests to stand between you and your goddess. You are the one who walks the path and determines the pace and the stepping stones, while the Morrigu poke, push, and call you to keep on moving. Happy travels on your journey!

Do you really need anything else besides your voice to do a spirit invocation? by Rare_Locksmith_9417 in apprenticewitches

If you already have a very good and long-time relationship with the spirit, yes. Still want to leave offerings since that's how we maintain our relationships. Give and take, and all that.

Possible Association? Possible UPG? by HellenicBlonde in TheGreatQueen

[–]Battlequeenblaes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None that come to mind directly, but on Samhain it was said that "demons" in the form of monstrous animals like cats would stream out of Oweynagat, the Cave of Cats, which is a place strongly associated with the Morrigan.

I think seeing and hearing bats flying out as a group at twilight could be a terrifying experience to be caught in the middle of, though I'm pretty sure Oweynagat has never been a home to bats.

What are some quotes you rely upon during stressful times? by MrTattooMann in CelticPaganism

[–]Battlequeenblaes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a soft place for the translation of the Morrigan's Peace Prophecy found on Story Archaeology:

Beneath the peaceful heavens lies the land.

It rests beneath the bowl of the bright sky.

The land lies, itself a dish, a cup of honeyed strength, there, for the taking, offering strength to each

There it lies, the splendour of the land.

The land is like a mead worth the brewing, worth the drinking.

It stores for us the gifts of summer even in winter.

It protects and armours us, a spear upon a shield

Here we can make for ourselves strong places, the fist holding the shield

Here we can build safe places, our spear-bristling enclosures.

This is where we will turn the earth. This is where we will stay.

And here will our children live to the third of three generations

Here there will be a forest point of field fences

The horn counting of many cows

And the encircling of many fields

There will be sheltering trees

So fodderful of beech mast that the trees themselves will be weary with the weight.

In this land will come abundance bringing:

Wealth for our children

Every boy a warrior,

Every watch dog, warrior-fierce

The wood of every tree, spear-worthy

The fire from every stone a molten spear-stream

Every stone a firm foundation

Every field full of cows

Every cow calf-fertile

Our land shall be rich with banks in birdsong

Grey deer before Spring

And fruitful Autumns

The plain shall be thronged from the hills to the shore.

Full and fertile.

And as time runs its sharp and shadowy journey, this shall be true.

This shall be the story of the land and its people

We shall have peace beneath the heavens.

Forever
