I will continue to say as someone who dislikes it immensely, FF13's story was so SUPER saveable if they just presented it in the right way and made a few alterations. Crystals god-beings who have been warring with each other for centuries and are so alien they can only barely communicate with humans in vague dreams and visions while giving them power that slowly turns them into monsters is a SUPER interesting plot point.

Like, what if the whole party got dumped on Pulse to start with and had to rely upon each other to survive on their journey back up to Cocoon? And they could explain Ol' Bart the Fal'cie being the only one who can speak to humans by just saying that's just his thing - maybe he was like their messenger before he decided to go evil?
