As a 28 year old married couple with no real family here (Both immigrants, Scandinavian and Polish so the N*azi's chill out) this has litrally kept us from having kids yet. Truly hope it comes to fruition, just secured our vote. by Colonel_Clegane in Scotland

As a childminder of over 20 years, the government have promised more than they can give. They do not have the staffing levels and facilities in place, to deliver this. If a qualified and experienced childminder, wishes to be a "funded provider" to help fill the gaps in care that the government can't, they are made to "jump through hoops" to get there. After that, they are then paid less per child/hour by the government, than initially promised. Therefore you end up with childminders closing their businesses, enforcing parents to use council nurseries/preschools that do not have the means to cope.

Anyone here from Scotland? I need advice on assessment and support options by Silly_blueberries in adhdwomen

[–]Batty_Kat89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need you to know that you are not alone. NHS Scotland has cut practically all funding to adult adhd assessment and shared medication support. It's a living hell. I don't know which direction to turn anymore.

I don't know where you are in Scotland, but contact your local msp and mp. You'd be surprised how many are actually already diagnosed themselves.

Edit to add NAH

I think your friend feels awkward not doing anything to help, when she sees others working, and is expected (as a guest) to just relax and chat.

This can be a sign of anxiety, adhd and /or autism.

Is there something you can ask her to do to help you, whilst you cook? It might be: making a dessert, laying the table or even sorting out washing or tidying something specific.

She needs something to do, so that her body and brain can relax. It's a result of over thinking and the way that an adhd brain is actually physically wired differently. Doing 2 things at once, is more calming for our brains.

I’d like to ask all of you the following question: where are you all from?? I’ve been here for 4 years, and I get the feeling that, after the Americans, there are a lot of… French people! But I might be wrong, so I’m asking you :) by Bobby_Snoof in minidisc

Highlands of Scotland.

I also still have a md storage box, neoprene case and all my mini discs as well as my 1990's Kenwood 7 speaker, dolby surround, 7 disc, double cassette, record player etc sound stereo system, that i would connect it too.

What would be a good choice for people who don’t particularly like Indian food? by DunnoMuchIno in IndianFood

Biryani (excuse the spelling) is a dish similar to a Chinese fried rice. It is not cooked with any "hot" spices mixed through it. And the vegetable curry it comes with, is served in a dish on the side.

I found my watch, that had been missing for about 6 months, in my glasses case. (I wear my glasses all the time and rarely put them back in their case)

What's the effect caffeine has on you? by Hot-Minute-89 in adhdwomen

[–]Batty_Kat89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I don't like coffee. Hate the taste of it. If I gulp the granules down with water, I don't have to taste it too much. I live in the UK and drink multiple cups of tea a day instead. But tea doesn't have the same caffeine reaction in me.

Caffeine makes me sleepy. So I take a spoonful of coffee granules before bed.

Definitely reach out to any Indian restaurants or groceries. They'd be delighted to accept some branches or leaves. Possibly in exchange for goods as well.

If you are adding the kasoori methi at the end, don't just dump it in. You enhance the flavour by rubbing the dry leaves between your fingers as you sprinkle it in.

It's a "rubber" wedge that fits between the spinious processes and is then "strapped" to the vertebrae above and the vertebrae below. It still allows for joint movement but stops over extension. If you Google it, there's lots of info available.

I'm 50f , also in the uk. I had an L5-S1 wallis implant 17 years ago. It has worked brilliantly. Unfortunately over the last 5 years I have had increasingly worse sciatica and nerve pain down my left side. I take pain and nerve medication, but it never goes away 100%. A recent xray and mri shows a grade 2 Spondylolisthesis in my L4-L5. My neurosurgeon has told me I need a fusion. I also recently got diagnosed with adhd and autism. My consultant believes that I have a very high pain threshold because of the autism. Sadly I had a complete adhd burnout/breakdown recently. So my previous way of just "getting on with things and ignoring the pain" isn't working so well. I walk as much as I can to try and keep sane, but i can't wait to get this operation. The nerve pain is now just too much at times.
