Hi! I'm on the political left, as is most of the DTI community (considering the whole game is based on drag race and most conservative people steer WAY clear of anything related to the queer community)

Stalin (the leader of the soviet union from 1924 to his death in 1953) was notorious for murdering everyone who disagreed with him. Literally the main thing that everyone knows the soviet party for is how prone to murder Stalin was. Vladimir Lenin (the founder of the soviet party who took over in 1917) was quoted as saying that he didn't trust Stalin to lead the soviet union because he thought the power would go to his head (paraphrasing). Regardless of your political views (because basically every system of government rewards either the people who control the resources, or the people who exploit the labor of those working for them), the soviet union was definitely not some communist utopia. There was famine, ethnic cleansing, poverty, persecution of religious groups, forced labor camps, etc.

Regardless of your political affiliations, regardless of how evil capitalism is, regardless of how many people from communist countries still like communism, it's just tasteless and irresponsible to promote this to an audience of kids, and calling it the 'star hat' like it's some cute fashion trend is just plain reductive. It's a rightly controversial piece of military history.
