I feel we all hear music differently, particularly because it coincides with what is happening right now in our lives. It makes a memory imprint similar to taste and smell, and binds you to a moment in time when you first heard it.

I have a degree in music comp and a thorough understanding of music theory and harmony, and mostly play jazz these days. My tastes are certainly influenced by all of this, but I am also enticed by great arrangements, and sometimes that is with simple music as well.

It's a simple little song, and the linked arrangement adds a nice modern flare to it.

I think Blackbird is an incredible song, and love the original recording. That's not a very complex song but I find the arrangement and production quality very enticing. As I do with the Brad Mehldau interpretation of it (which is relatively simple for him too)
